Well since we're still in the hospital and Caleb's in the nursery and only gets to come into my room to eat.

(He had some minor breathing issues so they've been monitoring him for the last 24 hours) I'm a little bored and going stir crazy....sooooo I'm writing my birth story now so I don't forget!
Tuesday I wasn't sure I was going to make it til Wednesday for my induction, but I did. When we got to the hospital to get things started on Wed. morning, I was still contracting but really irregularly (every 3-10 minutes) so definitely not enough to say I was going to go into "real" labor anytime in the near future. Once we got all the paperwork and labwork out of the way we were finally able to get things started at about 7am. Since Caleb was still up kinda high they wanted to use pitocin to move him down before breaking my water. So we got that going. Contractions were pretty easy at that point. I went ahead and asked for the epidural because I wanted it in place soon in case I went fast again like with Seth. So the anasthesiologist got in and got that started. A LOT of good that did since it numbed nothing but my right leg.

I told my nurse, she paged the anasthesiologist, but he was in surgery so it was going to be awhile. Not a huge deal. The contractions were still pretty easy. I could definitely feel them but I could talk through them pretty easily. I finally had to ask her to start a catheter because the pressure on my bladder from the contractions made me feel like I was going to explode and since I had a numb leg, going to the bathroom wasn't an option. So, they did that around 8:30 and checked me. I was still 5, but Caleb had moved down. A little after that ANOTHER anasthesologist came in to add more medicine to my epi since I was still feeling everything. All that did was make my ENTIRE leg numb. Before that it was just my thigh. So at this point, I'm telling them to take the epi out and redo it because I KNOW it's not in right. So they page the original anasthesiologist again. Meanwhile my doctor came in to break my water around 9:30. Still 5cm. That's where things started to get interesting. Once he broke my water my contractions started to get pretty intense. I'm pretty proud of the way I dealt with them though...lol. They HURT and I stayed so calm through the whole thing, breathed through them which made them manageable. No screaming, yelling, or throwing things which is how I envisioned myself in pain in labor...lol. That went on for about an hour. They said they weren't upping my pitocin til I got another epi in so hopefully I'd have it for pushing. Finally at 10:30 the second anasthesiologist comes in and takes out the epi and redoes it. As soon as I sat up I got the worst contraction yet, then another one, then another one...one right on top of the other. I'm dealing with this as he's putting the epi in. I somehow manage to stay still enough to get it in right. He dosed me up good and I started feeling relief almost instantly. Then as soon as I was able to relax again I started feeling pressure around 11:00. I told the nurse, she checked me and I was complete, but Caleb still wasn't quite to a 0 station so she wanted me to hang out for awhile to let him move down. Then I had another contraction while she was still in there and he moved all the way down to +1.

So she was like, ok hang on...we gotta get the doctor in here NOW or he's coming out on his own! I wasn't allowed to move. She checked again about 5 minutes later and his head was RIGHT there. Doctor got into the room, they put my feet up in the stirrups and told me to push. I didn't do anything, but they told me to keep doing what I was doing. I said, "I'm not doing anything!" and laughed. When I laughed his head came out! Then I gave a tiny push and the rest of him was out. I actually felt it unlike with Seth so that was cool. He was 8 lbs. 12 oz. and 20 3/4 inches long with a 14" head. I got 1 tiny tear from when his shoulders came out.
Hopefully we'll be home this afternoon. We're just waiting on the pediatrician to release Caleb. He had a few breathing issues yesterday and apparently took a big gulp of amniotic fluid on the way out so he's been having some trouble with spitting that up, but I haven't seen him do it at all in the last 12 hours so hopefully that's all behind us at this point. They just wanted to monitor him for an extra day to make sure everything was ok before they sent us home. So far he's nursing GREAT (much better than Seth in the beginning) and peeing and pooping like he's supposed to!
ETA: JUST talked to the pediatrician. Everything's fine and we'll be home this afternoon!!!
