okay!! here goes the details!

i was in the shower on 8/22/08 getting ready for my doctor's appointment.
i was 38 weeks exactly.
i bent over to shave my right lower leg and felt something gush out of me.
it was clear, but i wasn't for sure if it was amniotic fluid--or did i just pee myself!?
i figured i would get answers at the doctor's office. my mom drove me there
since i was on bed rest--i told her what happened and she believed i broke my
water.

i got to the doctor's office--everything looked great.
i told the doc what happened in the shower--he said "well it could be shower water
or urine, but i'll check it with the nitrazine paper just in case."
the paper turned BLUE!!!! which means POSITIVE!!!! however, he still wanted
to argue with me about it--he said it could be a lot of CM and then he continues to
explain to me what i would feel if it really was my water that broke (as if he
broke water before or something--he was really starting to piss me off!)
so he took a swab to run a test under the microscope--apparently he had trouble
locating a microscope, so the swab dried and the results were inconclusive.

i then asked him how much i was dilated--he said "1 cm".
i said--"1 cm? how can that be when i was a loose 2, almost 3 just 2 days ago!?"
he said--"well, it's the same thing". ***?

he instructed me to go straight to L&D to be monitored. i asked him if i should
get my bags for the hospital stay--he said that wouldn't be necessary.

so......

i went home to get my bags--as i believed NOTHING he said anymore.
i also went to Burger King because i knew they wouldn't feed me until after
delivery.
we also went to DHs work to let him know that it very well could be the night.
i didn't want him to leave work for a false alarm.

so i get everything settled at home and my mom and i go to L&D.

they put me on the monitor right away--nothing was happening as far as
contractions.
they did another nitrazine paper test--which almost turned blue--and the nurse
wasn't sure what was going on.
my blood pressure was through the roof as usual, though.

Dr. Oh came in to my room (he is in the same group with the doc that pissed me
off, but he's way cooler)--and he says "bottom line--you broke your bag of waters
and it looks like we're going to have to start some pitocin to get things moving."

finally!!!

so we got DH and my dad in--along with my mom, they were to be present for
the birth.

they started the pitocin, as well as mag sulfate for the high blood pressure.
i was MISERABLE!!!!!!! the mag sulfate made me feel like i had a horrible
hangover and i kept puking!
then the pitocin kicked in.
the contractions started and they were EXTREMELY painful!!

prior to all of this, DH and i discussed pain management--we agreed that i would
get an epidural and no pain meds because when i had pain meds for the kidney
stone a few months ago it made the baby super groggy and i didn't like it.
well i was in so much pain that i didn't care what the pain meds did anymore--
so DH and i got into it--i was screaming some serious harsh words at him.
the pain was making me lose my freakin' mind!!!
so i kicked EVERYONE out of the room except for the nurse--she was really cool!
and i waited over an hour for the epidural.
since the nurse was the only one in there with me, i had to hold on to her during
the procedure--i literally had my head between her boobs and she was totally cool with it.
haha! i apologized, but she said she understood and it was all good.

the epidural went in with out a problem. i felt amazing (except for the puking from
the mag sulfate) and i told the anesthesiologist how much i loved him.

everyone was allowed back in the room then.

everything seemed to be progressing just fine until i hit 9cm. i didn't advance any
further. the contractions seemed to have stopped and the baby was "tired" so
Dr. Oh said i needed to have a c-section.

about 15 minutes later i was in the operating room. DH was right there with me.
i felt all of this tugging and pushing around. i was freezing cold and the meds
were making me shiver so violently. i was still puking, also. it just sucked!!!
it went so fast though--the next thing i heard was "we just need to get the other
shoulder out." and then i heard her cry!!
Raegan Sage Baker was born on 8/23/08 @4:09am.

they showed her to me quickly and then DH and her went to the nursery while
i went to recovery. i got back to my room a few hours later and finally met her
officially for the first time.
and i must say, i can now understand what everyone means when they say
how they fell so in love the second they got to hold their baby.

i felt pretty crappy, though, because i still had to be on the mag sulfate for
24 hours after the surgery. i couldn't really do much with Raegan and i felt
a bit guilty, but i know it was out of my hands.

luckily, since the mag made me so miserable, the nurse talked the doctor into
taking me off of it early!!!! i felt like a new person an hour later!

we finally got home this morning. everyone is doing well.
i am super tired because i can't sleep in hospitals--between last friday to today,
i slept a total of 5 hours!!!! and i'm on percocet for pain, so i apologize if
this doesn't make sense or if there are errors.

i hope my story didn't bore you too badly.

here are some pics.

Beautiful BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BEAUTIFUL.

I loved reading your story. I hate to tell people who have not delivered yet truly how very painful it is but I got a giggle when you said you loved your Anesth. dr because I did that too with Emily. I had told my husband to "go get the dr I am dying!!". He said "you are NOT dying" I was 100% serious and grabbed his shirt roughly and said "No really I am dying and they just don't want to tell you ok? You cannot be in this much pain and NOT DIE got it?!". So he got them and they got me my epidrual and I just kept saying over and over how I wanted to share and how much I loved the man that gave it to me. ha ha ha!!!!!!!!! That was only after laboring for 10 hours though without meds and finally getting the pitocin...###### pitocin. lol.

I am glad everyone is healthy and the baby is beautiful.

We aren't to give a baby milk, berries, or peanut butter. We are to introduce new foods one at a time. But it's OK to inject several viruses, bacteria, aluminum, formaldehyde, phenoxyethanol, animal serum, mercury, squalene and more into an 8 week old? I don't think so.
In order to be healthy it is an unfortunate fact that people must be allowed the opportunity to be ill. I trust my body and those of my children to work correctly against the relatively benign diseases they vax for, and do not trust the ingredients in the vaccinations.
Our choice to not vax isn't based in ignorance, poverty, conspiracy theory and rumor. It's research, common sense, fact and evidence based..something the medical community has largely forgot about.
