On Thursday i had my 38 weeks OB appointment, i could have sworn my doctor was going to tell me that i had dilated or had progressed in some way because walking had become so uncomfortable and i felt lots of pressure down below. When she checked me she said i wasn't dilated at all and had not progressed in any way, i was so upset. That night the BH contractions were getting a bit uncomfortable but i still managed to go to sleep at about 4 AM i got a really sharp pain on my back that woke me up but didn't think much of it, i still went to work the next day (it was my last day of work) once i got there i regretted going b/c my contractions were beginning to get very uncomfortable and painful. My boss told me since it was my last day of work i can leave early, i was so glad he said that b/c i didn't think i would make it thought the day. My husband picked me up and took me home and i noticed i had a bloody show. I began to write down every time i got a contractions and i notice they were getting closer and closer, they went from 20 minutes apart to 10 minutes apart in a matter of a couple of hours. My husband got home and we went food shopping and while in the supermarket (4pm) my contractions were about 5 minutes apart and every time i got one i had to stop what i was doing b/c it was getting so painful. We went home and i waited to see if they kept getting closer...by 7pm they were 2 minutes apart and i felt lots of pressure below and that's when i paged my doctor and decided to go to the hospital.
Once in the hospital at about 8:30 pm we had to fill out some paperwork, they brought me into triage and my contractions were getting extremely painful, when they checked me the nurse said i was 5 centimeter dilated, i couldn't believe i dilated so fast ( the day before i wasn't dilated at all) i asked for an epidoral but they said i had to be admitted first, i was yelling like a mad woman with all the contractions. When i was admitted i asked for an epidoral again, but this time i was told the anesthesiologist was in the middle of a c-section of twins...i panicked and asked for ANY pain killer, the nurse said they cannot give me anything else until i get checked again for progress. Another nurse came in and said i was 7 centimeter dilated so she said it was too late for any painkiller because it would slow things down and told me i would have to give birth naturally...i was yelling in pain, my husband and mother were by my side trying to make me feel better but when you are in so much pain you cant help but want everyone away from you. My doctor kept checking me for progression every half hour or so and finally at about 11 pm she said i was ready to push ...every time i pushed i felt like i was going to faint or die. and finally at 12:34 my baby boy was born...i felt so relieved, happy and exhausted. I never thought giving birth would be so painful.
