Okay so Sunday Sept 28th I started getting painful but really tolerable contractions
every 20 to 30 minutes. Went to bed that night knowing whatever happens I will
be meting my baby girl very soon as I had a scheduled induction Sept 29th at 8 pm.
Woke up a few times with the same painful but tolerable contractions during the night.
Got out of bed Monday morning and more of the same story...but some of the contractions
were just like the BH and that say you notice those coming on more frequently as delivery
approaches. So I really didnt think I was in labor. Chris had a class he really wanted to attend
that evening and I was just going to wait out the day at his parents house like I had
been doing the last 4 weeks. So I told him to go ahead and go to his class I can have his parents
drop me off at the hospital for the induction..as he would only miss the first hour and that first
our would probably be just hooking me up and getting me in the books.
Well miss Kaylee decided she had other plans for us.
around 11:30 my contractions started to get slightly more painful again tolerable though
but at around 10 minutes a part...then at around 12:50 they were around 7 to 5...they stayed
steady at 7 to 5 a part for a couple hours...so I pulled up contraction master and started really
timing them. yup 5 minutes a part...still painful..and building..but again tolerable.
I told Chris he may be missing his class but I would let him know if they progressed.
went to take a bath around 4 pm as my back was just KILLING. I got out of the tub..
contractions were now 5 to 3 minutes and getting to be intolerable. I call Chris and tell him to get over here now I am DEFINITELY in labor!
We leave his parents house around 5:30 thinking GREAT..perfect timing for rush hour..this
is going to be a horrible long ride to the hospital. Luckily we did not hit ANY traffic (amazing).
Get to the hospital at 6ish to check in.
the Nurse at the station asked if she could help me and I said yes I need to check in..
she asked for a reason and I said I had an induction scheduled but I AM in labor now.
she asked more questions but the contractions were now coming 3 minutes a part and
lasting just as long..they were right on top of each other..I was now shaking and could not
talk to Chris answered all the questions.
They could tell I was in labor so they didnt send me to triage they put in the labor, delivery
and recovery room asap. (it was a nice one too..not one of the dinky ones we saw
at the tour..yay).
So I get in the room and start getting hooked up to machines..
Its 7:30 by now and the Dr is watching the monitor..she asked me if I wanted an epidural or a shot of morphine sine my contractions were SO strong they werent even registering on the machine..way off the top..even set at the lowest setting. I said no at first and wanted to be
checked first...and gives me devistating news....only 3 cm dilated. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?
so yes I chickend out and got the epidural at around 9. Poor DH was beside himself on how
to help me..he had never seen me in so much pain.
Finally 9:15 the epi kicks in and I am still feeling pressure but no pain yay!
The nurse told me to get some sleep and save my energy for pushing..but that was
impossible as every 5 to 10 minutes they kept coming in to check on me..poke me, prod me,
The babies heart rate kept dropping off the chart so they decided to check me again
and put a heart tracer internally. I was at 5 cm at around 12:00 am and they said they would come back in and check me in a couple hours...
they came back an hour and a half later (1:30) and I was at 9 cm and the Dr said I would probably delivery within the hour seeing as I progressed from 5 to 9 that quickly and went ahead and broke my water to check for meconium...nice clear fluid.
My Dr and her asst came back at 2:15 and I was at 10 cm and ready to push.
They had me do a trial push since I had the epidural and figured it would take me a good
long time to push...BOY were they wrong!
They asked me to stop and get on my side and they rushed like crazy chickens with their heads
cut off getting ready...calling other specialist and Dr's to get in here ASAP!
Chris had been sleeping up until now but was now wide awake and looking at all the frenzy..
from the time they asked me to do the trial push to the moment little Kaylee popped out..
11 minutes. Yes 3 cycles of 3 pushes and she was OUT!
Kaylee Bria was born at 2:36 AM. (just 2 hours and 36 minutes past her due date).
Her heart rate had decelerated and they had pulled out the vacuum to help get her out..and
called for the forceps as well. They had the vacuum on her head ready to start using it but
luckily they didnt need to use it. And by time the Dr who does forcep births arrived Kaylee
They took her from me right away...and started to check to make sure she was okay and start to stitch me up (I was informed that I wouldnt have torn if the hadnt used the vacuum..great
thanks guys!) I heard a nurse in the distance...OH MY GOD!! Look at all that red hair!!!!
Awwww dh got his wish a daughter with lots of beautiful read hair. He is one proud poppa!
They finally brought her to me and she was perfect (as all babies are in their mommas eyes right?) hehe
I am sooooo in love with my baby girl.
Sorry that was such a long story.
