Our baby arrived on December 3rd at 10:30 and it was a bit of a suprise! I had gone to my Dr. appointment in the morning, and while I was being examined my water broke (I was 2cm dilated), and they sent me to the hospital right away (GBS positive). I started labouring and my contractions were getting awful and I was afraid to get the epidural... but 7 hours after my water broke my contractions were so painful I was screaming, they were 4 minutes apart and I was having back labour. My Doctor came and checked me and... suprise... I was only 3 cm, AGH! lol. I caved in and got the epidural, they told me that it would be at least until tommorrow before I had the baby. So once they gave me the needle - all of the pain stopped. To be honest it was the best decision I made, I didn't feel anything after which was such a blessing compared to how it was before. They started me on oxcytocin because I needed to be having 4 contractions every 10 minutes to dilate 1 cm and hour.
So my husband and watched a documentary on my laptop to pass the time, (Planet Earth) and while we were watching penguins (lol) the babies heart beat suddenly decelerated to 80 (an hour after I got the epidural). We freaked out and he ran to get the nurse, and she moved me around and finally the heartbeat went up again. We were all a bit confused as to what happened, nurse said maybe her cord is somewhere it shouldn't be. So she checked me to see what the baby's position was.. and... suprise! I was 9 1/2 cm dilated!! LOL I went 6 1/2 cm in one hour. I was going to have the baby right away!! They phoned my Doctor to come in, and the nurse had me start pushing, but I did about 9 pushes and we had to stop - baby's head was coming out and the Doctor wasn't there yet. Once she came I think I pushed 6 more times and our baby was born!!
She is a little girl! She was 7.9 lbs and 53 cm long. She came out blue hehe and started crying a minute after she was out. Her name is Issra'a Aya. (Issra'a is arabic for "Journey" and Aya means "miracle")
After she was born came the fun part I started hemorraging because the labor was so fast so the nurses were pushing on my uterus to force out the clots and that really hurt!! They did it for about 15 minutes and then every 10 minutes after that. I had to stay in the hospital two nights, but now we are home and so happy thank God!
Thank God for everything he has given us!! We are so lucky.
So now without further adieu.... here is Ms. Issra'a!
