What a day yesterday was. I got here to the hospital at 6 am and they got me right in my room and had me change. I was hooked up to the pitocin and my antibiotics by 7. Things were slow at first. I wasnt in any pain and decided to get up and walk and then sat on the birthing ball and layed in different positions and was progressing slow. I was 3cm at 10:30 and then by 3:30 I was a "good" 4cm and she decided to break my water. She broke my water and my pitocin had been increased every hour up to this point. She didnt want to increase it anymore to see if things would move a little faster. My contractions started to hurt and then I got to 5 and I broke down and asked for an epidural. I really didnt want an epidural at all but I was hurting so bad and just wanted to be aware of what was going on so I decided to get it. I never did get it though. My birth doula came back and said that the anisthesioligist was in a c-section and would be over when she was done. I went from 5-7 in about 20 minutes. When she checked me when I was at 7 and said that she was still a little high and I still had some time and I should be able to get my epidural. She walked out and I had another painful contraction and then knew that I had to push. My mom ran out the door to grab my midwife and she had only made it 2 doors down and came back and checked and told me to push. I pushed 2 times and she was out. I have 10 stitches and feel great. I am still at the hospital. I am having surgery at 7:30 tonight for my tubal and then as long as Ava's 48 hours check is good tomorrow then we will get to go home then. I will try to post some pics of her when I get home. Oh yeah...She was 7 lbs 4 oz 19 inches long and latching on wonderfully. She goes through times where she will nurse every hour for about 4 or 5 hours and then sleep for a few hours. She has been so awake and alert today too. She is sleeping now but has been so awake most of the day.
2 beautiful angels with me and 6 angels up in heaven.
