Kadin is our second child, first son. He was born December 9, 2008 at 11:45pm at St. Mary's Medical Center, in Apple Valley, CA. He weighed 6lbs 3oz and was 19.5 inches long. This pregnancy was a little more complicated than my first. My husband and I were not trying to concieve nor were we not trying, so I was very excited to find out that I was pregnant even though we had both recently become unemployed. I was already 4months pregnant when I first went for prenatal care. Since my periods have been irregular my entire life, I didn't think anything of not having one until I started being able to eat diary products with no affect. Anyway, with no health insurance I had to request emergency MediCal. It was nice because I was able to choose a midwife program in which to have my baby. During my first visit I was able to see the sex of my baby, I was sure it was going to be a girl since my husbands side is all girls and he is the only boy out of six kids. We were very happy to learn he was a boy. The name I had choosen was Justice Daniel, since my daughters name is Liberty. But so many people gave me a hard time that we agreed to change his name to Kadin Thomas. The day after Thanksgiving I was attacked in my vehicle by someone trying to run me off the road and then assualting me at a stop because I would not oull over for them. I was taking my daughter to see Santa at the mall, instead I spent 3 hours in the mall parking lot waiting for police to come take a report. I was crying & contracting so much I thought I was going to have him right there in the mall parking lot. After awhile I calmed down and the contractions stopped. A week later at my doctors appointment my bolld pressure was high, so they made me rest for an hour while monitoring my blood pressure. It didn't go down, so they scheduled a stress test for monday and said that this would determine if they were going to have to induce labor. On monday morning I went to the doctor, I had a friend go with me just in case because my husband was now working over an hour away. My appointment was at 10. They did an ultrasound, and said that the fluid was low, and my blood pressure was still high. If I got up to go to the bathroom when I came back it was 210/140. They wanted to admit me to the hospital but labor & delivery was full. So I stayed at the docotrs office(which was right behind the hospital) waiting for a room to open for me. At 6 the doctors office closed so they had to send me to the hospital. I had to wait awhile before I got a bed, but thye still hooked me up to a bunch of monitors. My husband finally got there around 830 and they were talking about inducing me, but there were so many women in labor that night they waited until the morning. After getting induced it was just a long waiting period, they didn't want me to walk because of the ribbon and I wasn't contracting at all. They around 8 I started contracting hard & fast. Before I knew it my water broke and I just wanted him out, it was very painful. I only pushed 20 minutes, although those 20 minutes were the most painful 20 minutes of my life. I got an epideral but it was too late, I felt everything.
Wow congrats! Crazy about the whole road rage thing- I think when you're driving other people don't think about who is in the other cars all the time, like a pregnant woman or little children, etc, etc.
