Hey all! What an intense week! I awoke on Tuesday morning Jan 22/ 08 at about 4am with a killer ctx. It only lasted about 10-15sec. so I didn't think much of it and then I didn't get another ctx for about 18m and it lasted about the same time but hurt like the dickens and another about 12m later. I just knew somthing was going on but had no idea what was about to happen. I woke up my dh and told him I thought I was in labor but that we still had a few mins. I then had I think my 4th ctx about 3m later and I knew we needed to head out to the hospital which was about 25m away. So we woke our ds and had him come and babysit up in my bedroom and we took off. While we were driving the ctx conitnued to be irratic in time but in intensity they very much got worse. about 15m later (we were by then only 2-3 mins away from the hospital due to my dh's speeding lol) but that's when they ctx regulated at 1m apart and stayed that way until birth. We arrived at the hospital at 5am and we were rushed into the delivery room and I then told my dh to start the water in the tub right away. I declined all preliminary testing (strip monitoring, internal checks) They wanted to get an IV in b/c I was GBS+ and I told the nurse she could try but my ctx were coming fast and hard and I'm not sure I could sit still. I hopped in the tub as soon as I could. (I think by now the time was somewhere from about 5:07 - 5:10am) and I had 2 hard ctx with dh spraying water on my back, I reached down and check myself (not sure why I just did) and I felt my water bulging and told the mw so she was aware. Then, thinking we had more time the nurse wanted us to move our truck which was parked in the ambulance bay, but I wouldn't let dh leave so my mw went to move it. Almost as soon as she left I pushed and my water broke, and immediately I felt the need to push again and her head was out and then again another push was given and her body was born into the water! (time was now 5:16am) The midwife missed the whole thing! DH noticed (he was in the water with me) that she was blue and checked for a cord around her neck and sure enough there was one, he removed the cord and she pinked up and cried right way! Then we finally looked and saw that she was in fact a SHE!! mama's intuition was finally right!! The midwife then walks through the door of course shocked! lol Dh then cut the cord and I held her for a while until I was about to birth the placenta then he took her and weighed her and stuff. Total labor was about 1 hr 16m. I actually don't mind the faster labors. They are very intense but over quick, and I'm greatful for that. lol.

She weighed in at 8lbs 4oz and was 22in long. She is my biggest baby. We finally named her Amber Mary Anne (2 middle names after both her grandma's middle names) I had to stay in the hospital for 36 hours to watch for signs of infection due to me being GBS+ and not having time to get in the antibiotics. She did great with all her checks and was given a clean bill of health last night before discharge. She is nursing like a pro as well! I have a small crack on one of my nipples but that is healing nicely with the lansinoh that I'm using. and other than that breastfeeding is going great!
