Josiah tripped over a pair of shoes in our hallway when he was running at full speed and sailed head first into the door jam on Saturday morning. His head immediately turned purple and swelled in the spot where he had hit it, and he started acting kind of sleepy. We decided to play it safe and go to the ER, since DH said he had hit really hard, and we were concerned about a concussion. We got right in. Josiah started sobbing and clinging to me the minute the Dr. came in wearing scrubs... he is scared of anyone who wears scrubs because the nurses who give him his shots are always in scrubs! He clung to me during his exam, and was so scared, that he actually bit my arm at one point!!! Not on purpose, he was trying to chew on my sweater, and gnawed right through it! They kept him under observation for about an hour, and gave him some Tylenol. Since he started to perk back up, they said we didn't need to do a CT scan, and that we were free to go. I'm not looking forward to the insurance bill, but better safe than sorry I guess. Anyways, today, you can still see the spot where he bumped, but the swelling is almost completely gone, and he says it is hurting less. I'm so thankful he didn't crack his head open and need stitches. It could have been much, much worse.

Poor baby! I'm so glad he's ok! Sounds like a scary experience, especially with his fall being so dramatic & the sleepiness.

Leigh fell the other day, down a slope backwards, and hit her head on a rock, has a nasty cut and bump. Sometimes I want my kids to wear a helmet at all times, they seem so prone to head injury!

Poor guy! I am glad all seems to be well though. I'm a firm believer in "better to be safe." DH thinks I take them to see the doctor too often, but you never know when something is more serious than it seems!

ER visits are no fun. I'm glad there was no discussion, and hope his head feels better today.

Glad he is okay! My girls have bumped their heads majorly a number of times, but I've been lucky and my mom has always been home when they've done it. It's nice having a doctor in the house sometimes!
