I know a lot of you aren't celebrity news people... but I was SHOCKED when I got online tonight to see that Whitney Houston had been pronounced dead at 48. So many great musicians have left us far too young... so devastating.

I find it very sad. I wasn't shocked though, she had a well-documented history of drug addiction. I wonder if drugs played a role in her death, or if it was something else.

I feel really bad for her daughter, since both Whitney and Bobby Brown have had so many drug and alcohol issues She's like 18 or 19 now. I know there was a story in the tabloids a year ago (maybe longer) about her snorting cocaine at parties - but I think that turned out to be false, at least I hope so!

I missed that story. It is so sad and a bad cycle. I have done plenty of bad things but am not in the public eye so Thea won't have to be faced with them without my guidance. And now I have her and her dad to be good for instead of continuing on a self-destructive path.

Did you guys see that it was Clive Davis who found her? She was at the hotel where the big celebrity pre-party takes place for the Grammy's. It will be interesting to see how they handle her death at the award ceremony tomorrow night.

Drugs killed her, whether directly or indirectly. Maybe she wasn't doing drugs yesterday but regardless the effects have ravaged her. You don't die of natural causes at 48.
She is probably the artist I would have said had the most amazing voice I have ever heard, of all time. Amazing, amazing god-given voice and so talented.
It's tragic. What a life she had at one time and now how it ended. Sad.

I was shocked. I hadn't heard any "gossip" about her recently so I thought all was good. I grew up listening to, lip-synching her songs when I was younger. I loved her voice.

I didn't read that. I've only read and seen on the news that she was found by one of her bodyguards in the bathtub. A few news articles said that her face was underwater, but the bodyguard removed her to start CPR, etc. Prescription drugs were found in her room as well according to MSNBC and CNN.
Last night on CNN, they were showing Clive Davis's party though and how it was going on. A lot of people interviewed for the party thought it was surreal and weird to be going to a party at the same place she had just died, especially since her body hadn't been removed yet.

I was shocked when I heard the news. I honestly haven't even read anything about it yet or watched any news reports. But I have to believe it was drug-related, given her history. It's so sad. Bobby Brown was probably the worst thing that ever happened to her--I really believe that he's the one that introduced her to that lifestyle. I think he was like a drug to her, too.
She really did have one of the greatest voices of all time, and she'll always be remembered for that. I grew up with her music and have many great memories to go along with it.
