I am planning to take off of work some days for IVF stuff. Am curious, how long did your RE say that you need to relax after the retrieval? And how long after the transfer?
Mine said 1 day for each. But a friend who went to another RE told her to lay around for 3 days after the transfer. I was not sure if it was due to a condition that she had that I didn't know about?

Thank you Christin. I guess my friend had something else going on with her. Sadly 5 tries of IVF never worked for them, so I hate to ask her anymore questions...I don't want to bring up bad thoughts for her.

Mine said, 1-2 days. OH!
OH!
Secret... my accupuncturist (yes, any edge I can get...) she told me PINEAPPLE.
Two days before retrieval. Have pineapple. The fresher the better and closer to the rind. Then? Have it all the way up until two days after the transfer. There is an agent in pineapple that makes your lining more stronger than usual and your embroyo healthier.
I am going to suck it down hard. And I am not fond of it...

My RE told me to plan for 1 day after retrieval and 2 days after the transfer. Just to give us the best shot at everything working.
Thanks for the pineapple tip! I had NEVER heard that before believe it or not...I love pineapple! YAY!

I took the day of and the day after retrieval off. Doc didn't recommend any rest after transfer. I relaxed the rest of the day of and was up and doing my thing the day after.

Another question. For transfer, they say full bladder. But there are different types of full. So, do you drink water until you have the urge to urinate? Or do you continue to drink until you are FULL?

I drank until FULL. It helped them to see. You can see it illuminate sort of on monitor when they press down. The hardest part was the bladder. I had a HUGE bottle of water. And drank 3/4 of it and it was enough.

HA! I know, I want to make sure I am full, but not so full that I pee on the RE if he presses too hard! AHAHAHAHA
Ohhhhh and another question since I have your attention. I am sure this is a dumb question. When they transfer them back in, how do they "stick" and stay up there? i.e., what keeps them from falling out?

your uterus is very fluffy at this time.. they just settle into your lining and hopefully implant. they cant fall out because of your cervix.
hope that helps.
