Hello Everyone,

My name is Nekia I am brand new to it all. I'm new to the message board and I know that I am gonna have to do IVF. I'm currently in the process of selecting an specialist/facility. No cycles or meds currently in progress. Still trying to gather info. Feeling hopeless and overwhelmed.

Hi Nekia. My name is Michelle. What kind of infertility are you dealing with? Have you tried any other forms of infertility treatments?

Just trying to get some background info I know IVF can seem really overwhelming but once you get your specialist and receive all the info you will be able to take time to go over it. The girls are all great on this board. You might have more luck posting on the general ttcwm (trying to conceive with medical assistance) board for replies though. Most of us post on there and then those of us doing IVF or just finished IVF have been posting in the June/July/Aug/Sept IVF forum.

Anyways, just wanted to say welcome and I hope you get a specialist soon.

My name is Yolie (or Jewels)..Welcome to the boards! Infertility in general is overwhelming, but this is a great place to gather information, ask questions, or simply to just vent.
So feel free to ask away
Where do you live? Perhaps you can do a google search on facilities in your area or ask your obgyn what facility he would recommend. Ironically I had 3 different people tell me about my RE facility within a matter of 2 weeks. The last person being my obgyn.

Thanks Michelle and Jewels for your response. I live in Georgia about 30 minutes outside of Atlanta. A little about my history, I had a cyst that engolfed my left ovary. It was to large to be taken lap, so I was opened and now the scar tissue has pinched the only tube I have left closed on the right. I have done 2 HSG's to determine it was hopelessly closed. My ob said that it wasn't worth the risk of damaging the tube any further by trying to remove the scarring so that only leaves me with the one option. I am turning 34 so and my DH is 10 yrs my senior and he is putting me on a time frame considering all his kids are older and he is starting over. So that's me in a nut-shell, I am signed up to go to some of the fertility centers question and answer seminars around town. My main concern is that my insurance says they will cover infertility up to a 35,000 lifetime max; but i need to find out the stipulations as to what they cover if any. So with time comes answers?!!

Hi Nekia. You and I am new to the IVF part of TTC. I have been TTC for over 2 years with 4 miscarriages. Dr's can't seem to tell me why i'm miscarrying. We've done all the tests and all seems to be ok. So we are doing IVF with ICSI fertilization. I have just come over to this board too. It took me a couple of months to choose my specialist/clinic. I think it's important that you are comfortable with who you go with. After much consideration, I am just following my gut. HOpe it's right! Great to meet you and I hope to share your success with you!

Thanks Lynda I really appreciate your response. I'm trying to get the insurance thing straight so i can see how much my out of pocket expense will be. I hope everything goes well with you. I will keep you in my prayers. I am trying not to be to fustrated or depressed since I don't seem to be as far as everyone else. As it seems to be a long road ahead. But thanks and I will be in touch.

Thank you for your response everyone seems to have open arms here. I just had a little scare because my cycle has come twice in one month. So now I have to get some tests and wait to see if that was a one time fluke or not. So in the mean time I'm just collecting information.

Hello All!! I am new to this board as well! I am very excited that I have my first appointment Feb 3rd to work on starting IVF. I am not sure what to expect and how long from the first appointment we will be able to start our IVF. I am doing IVF because I have tied tubes also have both gene's of MTHFR and adhesions to the left ovary and tube. Also my DH's insurance covers 90% of IVF (unlimited cycles!!!) but not tubal reversal. I am excited and overwhelmed with all the info I have found on this website already!! You all seem great!! Do anyone know what the first appointment will be like and how scheduling a cycle works? thanks so much!!

Your first appointment will probably be some bloodwork, and the doctor may talk about your plan of action. After your bloodwork comes back, they might have you start birth control pills for a couple weeks to a month. I don't know how my office decides when to schedule things, as far as I can tell, they go by my labwork, and decide what to do next and when to do it.
