Kelli- I believe that I might be on different meds than you. Because my FSH was slightly elevated, they are putting me on micro lupron and Gonal F. No follitism for me. It actually means less meds in the long run. I will be taking the lupron and BC for a while together because they both basically do similar things. 2 days before the transfer I have to trigger with HCG before they can do the retrieval. So we will see how this all goes!!

My HSG did not hurt at all, but this may be because I already have children. I was shocked that it was over so fast. I have very mild cramping when she blew up some balloon or something, but it went away quickly like nothing ever happened. Maybe that's why? I didn't spot either. I have been tired today though, but maybe because we spent 3 hours at the doctor's office. Plus I woke up at 5 am to get ready. Bleh.

It is sooooooo quiet on here! Too quiet! Lol.

Ok, I know this sounds weird, but I have been extremely moody while on my birth control. I wake up angry and go to bed angry for no reason. Then again, I never handled birth control well. Last time I was on it, I was always nauseous and I gained 30 lbs in 2 months. It has been over a week and I have gained 5 lbs while still dieting and exercising. Plus, my boobs are SUPER sore and swollen. I cannot wait to stop taking these on the 4th. Anyone else get weird symtoms on their meds?

Lindsey - that makes sense! I can't remember my meds but I know Gonal F is one of them. I will that one AM and PM and something else in the PM as well.. micro HCG?? I have a calender will all of t on it. I am not even going to try and memorize it.. haha.

I have been noticing I have been more crabby.. and haven't been as hungry. Guess I should take advantage because I have been eating anyways.. lol. Having some cramps too I think from BCP.

Did our injection training today. Learned a lot and I am not really nervous about it. DH will do most of them.. lets say he is beyond thrilled.. I am nervous about mixing something wrong and messing it up!

I had super sore, swollen boobs while on the birth control too. I have been off them now for a week and they are back to their normal size and are no longer sore!

I took my 3rd day of shots today. Been having a little bit of a problem with my follistim pen, so a call will be made tomorrow to my nurse.

I go back Thursday for bloodwork.

Good luck ladies we are rolling along!!

hi there,
i started trying to get pregnant in 2007. After trying for a year, with no luck on our own, we got referred to the fertility clinic in our city. We found out that we have unexplained infertility. A frustrating diagnosis because it didn't give us any answers but at least we still had hope. We did 5 IUIs, each unsuccessful. Finally we decided to do IVF. We did that in Aug 2009. Thankfully we were lucky and conceived our little girl. She was born in April 2010. We have 8 frozen embryos and are ready to use them. In July we are doing our first FET. I really hope we get lucky again.

kelli-
i did experience spotting after my saline sonogram. It lasted for a few days after the procedure. It kind of freaked me out a little because I didn't have any spotting after my first one but I guess it is normal. It went away after a few days.

Hi Mabesmom! Welcome to this IVF thread! I hope you get that baby this transfer!

AFM-I have to go and pick up even more meds today, and then off to injection training for me at 1pm. I am kind of concerned though because my lupron medicine is in one vial, and I have to take that for 2 to 3 weeks. I know it is a multi use vial, but I have to take a dose 2 times a day. Ugh. Plus it has to remain in the icebox.

Ok! I went and picked up what was left of my meds and had my training today. I can tell you that I am NOT looking forward to the progesterone shots! The class was fun, and they had actual pens, needles, med bottles, and a pad that felt like skin to inject it in. I am kinda upset that I do not get the easy pen shots, and instead I have a multi use vial of Gonal F. Plus I have a multi use vial of Lupron. *sigh* A lot of mixing and what not.

Anyway, my nurse kind of freaked me out because she went ahead and prepared my HCG shot I did not realize that it was good for a month in the fridge, but I guess it is best so everything works perfectly. Anywho, I have a HUGE box full of meds in my kitchen and some in my fridge. Starting tomorrow with the lupron ladies!

Also, I kinda felt weird being the only girl in there for IVF. The other 2 were for IUIs.

I'm not sure what med we I will be in. I did 3 rounds of Injections with IUI so I'm used to doing the injections myself. I found with them I had hot flushes and I was very moody. Poor DH

AFM:~
I started acupuncture and I LOVE IT. I was so relaxed and she was able to tell me I was going to O on my right side, I have been getting strong O pains on the right side and loads of EWCM so something is working...
We go to Dublin on Friday for our Dummy Transfer and I'm really excited about it. It's like the 1st big step in our IVF journey.

The mixing is easy, I have videos on my blog of us doing it nightly before injection. It overwhelmed me but then it makes perfect sense when you are doing it so no worries.

Yeah I am just lazy. Anyway, my clinic has a link for injection training if anyone wants to watch them. I am making my husband watch them for the progesterone shots. He could not come to the injection training with me. I was the only one by myself in there. Lol.

Hello Everyone.

I have been reading many, many message boards for the last year and a half but this is the first time I have participated. I, too, am starting the IVF process mid July.

My husband and I (both turned 29 this year) TTC for the typical year. After 6-7 months, and quite a few ovulations kits later I just had this gut feeling that something was wrong, but you had to wait for that magical year bench mark! After starting testing for both of us, we now skip to this past May, my husband had the TESE surgery, and with that came good results!!!!! (I also had a surgery a month before him to fix the split uterus I had , If it's not one thing, it's something else!!!)

So, here we are now; had our first consultation a few weeks ago, met with the nurse, to which I agree made everything seem easier and less overwheling, if that's possible. I am on BC right now until Monday; bloodwork/ultrasound Tuesday morning and will await further instructions; Am thinking will start injections in a couple weeks, retrieval/transfer some time the week of the 18th. Getting that box of injections was quite the experience - I will be using the Gonal F pen - OY

My outlook on the first round, is a way to get experience with the whole process; from what I understand, it rarely works the first time. Fingers crossed the retrieval brings in good numbers, etc. to possibly freeze for future use.

Here's to us all taking it one step at a time !!! Good luck everyone =)

Prendy- First off, welcome to the board! I hope you get that baby! Also, I do not know where you heard that it rarely works the first round, as there is a lot of girls on here who could prove that wrong. Stay positive.

AFM- This lurpon is DRIVING my nuts! I have never been in such a foul mood before! It's a scary feeling actually because I am mad non stop. Any suggestions ladies on to help me calm down and relax?

Prendy - Welcome! I also responded to your post on the April -June board. I agree with Lindsey that there are plenty of women who got pregnant during their first round. Of course, I can also think of many who got a BFN the first go around but were successful the next month.

Lindsey - I hated Lupron also! It always helped me to remind myself (over and over again) that it was just the Lupron that was making me crazy and not actually whatever it was that I was blaming DH for. In some odd way, once I accepted that it was just the hormones making me angry and irrational, I felt like I had a bit more control over everything. I hope you find something that works for you!

Thanks Lindsey and Jenn - Yeah, I have been reading around different boards today and noticed quite a few girls being lucky to have it work on the first try! I will def try to keep positive!

My doctor mentioned that it could take, on average, 3 attempts. I thought the nurse said that in between attempts, you had to take that following month off; is that true? I guess it makes sense....or maybe it's only a month off if you have to go through the whole retrieval again?

Loving being able to read and talk to others going through the same thing!

Hi Prendy. Welcome.
I have to agree with the girls I have seen loads of girls on JM that IVF works for 1st time but you just never know so my advice is stay positive. Looking forward to being on this journey with you. Good Luck

AFM:~
We had our Dummy Transfer today.
So this morning we heading off to Dublin which is just over 4 hrs on the train.
It all went good. We were seen straight away. The Dr and nurse were really nice.
It took him a bit to find my cervix and it hurt a bit but the nurse was great she kept saying deep breaths ans push bottom down which helped. Maurice was holding my hand.

They did the fake transfer which took a few min and felt like a smear test. Afterwards I had a small bit of cramping but only for about 10 min. The nurse ran through everything with us again and answered a few questions I had. So everything is full steam ahead of the real IVF around 2 week in August depending on CD1.
After wards we went for lunch a did a bit of retail shopping before we headed for the Train home.
The train was packed so we didn't get a seat together so the 1st 2 hrs I was just listening out the window listening to music in my own little dream world.
We changed trains and managed to get a seat together so at least 2 hrs we could chat about things.
Over all the trip took us 12.5hrs I'm so tired but it was worth it.
1st step is DONE

Also
We were worried about the journey as well and looked into hotels. But because it is the capital and mid August we were looking at around €700. Anyway on the way up on the train my friend rang me. She is from Dublin and her parents are still there. They are going on a cruise in August and said we could stay in the house free. So looks like we will be staying in Dublin for over a week. It really was a height of my mind because the journey is so bloody long up & down.

Rebecca- That is awesome news! A free place to stay is always great.

Jenn- Yeah I feel a little bit better this afternoon. Boy was I mean this morning though! My poor husband pulled me out of bed when he got home. I believe I am on the long lupron though because I take it all the way up until my retrieval, so until around the 18th. *sigh*

Prendy- I hate to sound bad, but what a horrible doctor to say that it takes on average 3 attempts to get pregnant with IVF. My clinic has a sucess rate of 75% with one egg on the first try with my age group (perfect embryo situation). I would expect a doctor to be more positive. What is his clinic's SART rating?

Something people should know about me is I am a glass half empty kind of girl, in general (I know, people tell me all the time, I have to work on that and I am, LOL), so when he told me 3 attempts, (being new at this) I was actually okay with that number and didnt look at it as my doctor not being positive; maybe just realistic, as I was the one that asked for an average number. I didn't get the sense he was concerned about anything. Afterall, he never said it wouldn't work on the first try. I got that info from reading different sites - maybe I should stop that Come to think of it if I didn't ask him for an average and asked him personally what he thinks my chances are of when it will work, I would think, as a doctor he would have to be careful of his answer.

Of course we all want to it work sooner than later, LOL!!! If it were to work on the first try, of course that would be ideal - but, it will happen when it's meant to. At this point I find myself more concerned about and hoping the retrieval goes okay and that they get a good amount of eggs, and we have a selection to freeze for later use ....

Fillin' up my glass - half full, half full ;o)

Prendy-Welcome! I totally understand what you are saying. It is easier for me to hope for the best, but expect the worst. It is just easier for me to deal with it that way. This is my first cycle of IVF and while it would be absolutely amazing for it to work on the first try, I won't be devastated if it doesn't happen.

Rebecca-Yay for a free place to stay and a successful dummy transfer!!!

AFM-I went on Thursday of this past week for bloodwork. They reduced my follistim some and I was due back to see them again this morning for more bloodwork and an ultrasound. I have about a total of 10 follies ranging from 11-16, so they started me on my ganirelix and I go back Tuesday morning!!!! The nurse even said......we are getting close!!!!! ahhhhh!!!!

Hope you all are doing well!!!!

Angie- Wow! It is getting close! I bet you are excited!

Prendy- Sorry if I came off rude, I didn't mean to. It is just this is my husband's and my last chance to try for a child, so I would be pissed if my doctor told me that. I am trying to stay as optimistic as possible as we cannot afford another IVF cycle. Our plan covers only 2 tries. Sorry if I seemed mean.

AFM- Now the headaches are here. I was told that I can only take Tylenol and nothing else. I am about to go and check to see if I have any. My body better respond excellent for all this torture. At least I am controlling my bad moods better.
