Hello. I posted on here several weeks ago that I was planning to do my FET in early November. After that I haven't posted anything. That is because DH and I have been considering delaying the transfer. I am still nursing my 14 month old son (my miracle baby from my previous FET) and the doctors won't do a transfer until he is weaned. It was a really agonizing decision but in the end we decided to put off the transfer. It has been hard for me because DH and I decided to do out next transfer in November 2013 over a year ago. So I have been thinking about this and looking forward to it for awhile. But when we made that plan, I hadn't considered the idea that my LO would still be nursing (my goal was to nurse him for one year). I could have weaned him and gone ahead with the transfer as planned but I love the bonding time that it gives me with him. And honestly, I don't know if I will ever have another sucessful FET so this may be my only LO to have this experience with. So in the end we decided to wait.
I'm so sad that I won't be part of this group of lovely ladies (that includes so many old friends). I will keep checking in to follow your journeys. I wish you all the very very best and lots of sticky dust!!

Hello again. Thanks for all sharing your stories. I don't know anyone in person who has gone through IVF to talk to.

Today I had my first Egg Retrieval. They got 20 eggs. I cannot wait until tomorrow morning to hear how many were mature and how many fertilized! After 2 years of trying for number two I am really hoping this is the answer.

Baby dust to you all!

Caliteacher, WOW! 20 EGGS! That is great!

I came home today to a BIG FedEx box of stuff - prescription meds (antibiotics), estrace, progesterone suppositories and PIO shots. Ahhhh. It was like Christmas has arrived.

I spoke to my IVF clinic today and it looks like I will be doing my transfer mid November. Anyone else around that time? I am hoping to have success, but in the event that I do not, I can always hop into the December FET or IVF group. I would assume it'd be the IVF group bc we only have 8 frozen embryos. 6 frozen @ day 1 and 2 frozen at 3 day blasts, 5 & 6 cell.

Do you girls think it would be a reasonable request to ask the lab to also thaw the other two that were frozen after 3 days. They are a 5 & 6 cell ... wondering about asking to thaw them and see if they make it to BLAST? Just a thought. I am doing a 3dt.

HopingForBaby- You froze 8! That seems like a lot. How many eggs did you have?

I was told that of my 20, that there are likely about 15 mature, of which about 70% would fertilize. Then they said about half would die between day 3 and day 5... Leaving about 4-5 day 5 blasts if I'm lucky.

You could totally ask your re to thaw the 2 three day ones, but with the statistics that only half survive from day 3 to day 5 there is always the chance they could both not survive. I think I would stick with the day 3 if I only had 2, but this is my first cycle and I am by NO means a specialist.

Good luck! Let us know what you decide.

CaliTeacher - I agree... I had 22 eggs retrieved during my IVF. 13 fertilized with ICSI. They froze 6 immediately and let 7 go to day 3. Out of the 7, I was left with an 8 cell, 7 cell, 6 cell and 5 cell on day 3. We transferred the 7 cell and 8 cell. unfortunately. I was also 60 lbs heavier. Anyway, I think I would be OK with asking about the 5 & 6 cell. I think we will thaw them all at this point and hope to get some nice looking 3day-ers. My friend is pregnant with her first FET (3 day). 1 baby and they transferred an 8 cell (or 9 cell?) and a morula (i think the stage right before blast). Can't wait to hear about your eggies tomorrow girl!!!!

Hoping- What about the 6 they froze immediately? Could you thaw them all and see if any good ones make it to blast for transfer?

Hi Cali -

Yes, the 6 frozen immediately are our first ones to use. I'm just willing to add the 5 & 6 cells to try for blasts simultaneously bc we will be doing a 3 day transfer. My clinic claims to have equal pregnancy rates for 3 and 5 day transfers because the lab and embryologists are supposedly great. A month ago, I was considering transferring my embryos to a doc closer to home who does 5 day blast transfers only, but didn't after finding out my friend is pregnant from her 1st FET with my doc... So, if the 3 day fails this time (unless I can get them to agree to try for a blast), I would likely do IVF again and maybe switch to the new doc. My clinic feels like day 5 transfers aren't reallyn"survival of the fittest," meaning they may be "the best" outside the body, while other eggs that may not have made it to blast outside the uterus have a better shot in the uterus, their natural environment. From what I see though, many clinics now do 5 day blasts MORE and it makes sense to me! I feel like I see more preg rates that way, however, I am the only one of 5 people in a group of us who has not been successful at my doc, while all others have been successful with 1st IVF and 1st FET on day 3 transfers, so my fingers are crossed for this time! If I ad my way I'd pick a 5 day transfer as it makes sense to me, but my docs office has been around for along time and even some of my friends were conceived by the doc who runs this practice, 30 some years ago! Ahhh so much info!

And ps sorry for the typos! I'm on my iPhone or iPad and it auto corrects things in odd ways or I type too quickly. Can't wait to hear about your embryo report tomo, Cali! I wish I was notified of new replies on my cell. I'll check back tough. So exciting!

Cali- cant wait to hear your fert report!!!! Update us ASAP!!!!

Jill, I am DYING, start peeing and posting pics already!!!! Lol I am dying over here!!!!

Leah! Yay for an upcoming retrieval!!!!

Hoping- as I understand it- my embryologist say that with the new technology they can mimic the environment that day 1-3 Embryos thrive to develop in ( the fallopian tubes) Therefore, what you see before day 5 is really what you get. When you transfer a day 3 Embryo to the uterus, it's more "unnatural" because that is not normally where they would be located on day 3 of fertilization. They would still be in the Fallopian tubes traveling down. By day 5-7 the fertilized egg makes it to the uterus for implantation- making a day 5 transfer more logical.

It sounds like you have a good plan for this cycle though!!! Whatever happens this cycle I am hoping and believing you will see a BFP very soon!!!!!

Thanks, Melissa! It's been a hard decision for me (as you know! I've been going back and forth with the process)... I've heard exactly what you said from my doctor too as the counter argument, however apparently there is something the embryologists do at my clinic where their rates are the same with 3 day transfers as other clinics (and their clinic's) 5 day rates. It's about 50/50 with less chance of multiples. Believe me, I am still having a tough time talking myself into this, and as I'm writing this I am getting more nervous! But people come from around the world to my doctor so I have to have a little faith in what the practice is telling me.

If this doesn't work, I will most likely be moving to the new clinic ASAP.

Cali - we are anxiously awaiting our fert report! Melissa, you've got like 2 weeks til transfer, right!?

Still Hoping- I have NO idea if the Menopur is working. I have been taking it 6 days (3 ample and 1 water) I feel bloated! Tonight is the LAST night to take them I hope. I see my doctor tomorrow. When I say "PROTOCOL"... I mean- My doctor hasn't given me a break down of dates... Or of the process. And I find it very difficult because I read that other people are getting their checked (Blood Work and Scans) to see if their dosage is right.... Not the case here.
Now I am worrying, "What if my eggs over develop?" I will let you know what the doctor says tomorrow.
Can you tell me what is NEXT? What should I be prepared for as far as getting ready for the egg retrieval?

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!!

Amber, that would be frustrating not getting a schedule...but I think you are fine! Is this your 5th total day on meds or were you on diff ones before the menopur? I start my 2 Menopur and 4 Bravelle tomorrow and while yhey take bw on Monday (3rd day of stims) I don't get an U/s until 5th day of meds..I also have more bw that day...on that 5th day I switch to just 4 of bravelle for the rest of stims. Each fresh IVF (this is my3rd) Ive stimmed 10 days...so I don't think that your eggs will be overdeveloped....the next step will prob be to continue the Menopur a couple more days and then they will have you take an HCG trigger shot when you lead follicles are 18mm in size....then 36 hrs after the trigger shot you will have your egg retrieval.... You're on your way!! update us after your appt!!!!

Hoping...Ive always had 3dt and I have my darling Mallory...I've gotten pg with all my 3dt's (although not all were sticky )

I would thaw the6 ...which is a super great number btw...let yhem grow and txfer the 2 best....I'd save the 5&6 cells for later, if it was me...best of luck!!!

I am ready for the beta blood test already - bring it on! I have peed out the trigger shot with hpt's as of yesterday at day 8 past retrieval with two different completely empty tests (except the control lines). Today, although I know it is a little soon, tried another one & it had a teeny tiny cute little pink line. I know that I should wait until Sunday to do another one but will probably check again tomorrow to see if the squinter line darkens at all. I am getting more & more both anxious & excited. The beta is not until Wednesday......but our weekend is a busy one so at least the weekend will go a little faster.

We are praying for all of you. This is such a wild ride.

JILL!!!! Post a pic of that cute little line!!!!!! Hope it gets darker!!!

Hoping- if you are happy with your clinic's SART chart and you trust them, then I don't thnk you should worry
Our clinic has about 70% live birth rates for our transfers ( day 5 ) have they given you a specific success rate? Or have you looked at their data? I hope you find a clear answer soon and can rest assured in it

I have LESS than 2 weeks!!!!!! Eeeek!!!!! Today is my 3rd estrogen injection. I love how fast it is going by!

Jill that's great news!!!!! Fingers crossed for u!!! Cali- ahhhhh waiting to hear your embryo report!

Melissa, that's just the problem. I feel like I'm talking myself into being ok with it while worrying that I should have gone with the other clinic. I'm going to ccivf.com - can you check it out? Also, the other clinic is RMA Philadelphia RMAphiladelphia.com CCIVF has rates on their site and I see nothing on RMAs who does the 5 day transfers!!! They claimed "76% success the first 6 ms of this year alone." My hubby and I thought it was off for stats for 6 months. Thoughts? Aghhhhh!!!!!

Hoping....what is the full name of CCIVF? I'm not seeing it on the list....and the new clinic only has a 19% live birthrate for under 35yo frozen transfers....is crozer your other clinic? they are slightly higher at 20%
