Hi All,
quick question...I have my retervial tomorrow and might have to freeze my embryos due to my progesterone level rising. Has anyone else every experienced this or have your drs mentioned the potential?
If so, what do your drs like to see you level at or under before transfer?

AJP, I'm sorry they may freeze them all...but if the lining isn't perfect, then it is the best choice. I'm not sure what they should be under...but I did find a good article discussing this issue.

Hope that helps!

Thanks ladies! I had a pretty rough time yesterday. Lots of pain after the procedure, and my blood pressure was too low for any good meds. I am getting better, but I still need the pain meds. I had polyp removal surgery last November, and this has been much worse. At least I got a lot of eggs out of it! We get our fert report this afternoon. As long as we have more than 5 embies, we will do a blast transfer on Sunday. No signs of OHSS yet!

There are a lot more details on my retrieval experience in my TTC journal, if anyone is interested.

Yay about the 24 eggs! Sorry about yesterday's pain. F/X'd for lots of embies and a 5 day transfer!

AFM: Started Lupron for FET a couple days ago. I don't like Lupron, but after being on bcp for the last 8 weeks (endo protocol), I'm liking how I feel with decreased estrogen levels. However, I'm sure I'll feel differently by the end of the week when my estrogen level is really low.

Leah, I only have one frozen embie, so just the one. It was the best qualify embryo that was produced, so hopefully this is our baby. If FET doesn't work, we'll move on to another full IVF.

Nicholle - I did not do Lupron, but have heard it sucks. Hope its not too terrible for you.

We have 15 embies!! Blast transfer will be Sunday Unfortunately, I don't think we get any more reports until then, so I just have to hope my embabies are doing good over the next few days.

Congrats Jenny!!!! 15!!!! Holy cow!!!!!

AFM: I had my blood drawn and my teaching for the IM injections.
Estradiol is low at 7, so, nice and suppressed.

I start my injections tomorrow. For the Delestrogen I only have to take it twice a week. As we get closer to the transfer we will add in the daily progesterone injections.

Question for the BTDT IM injection gals: what gage of needle did you use for the PIO?

Melissa - we were originally given 22 gauge needles, but the nurse said we could use 25s if we wanted, it would just take longer for the oil to go through. We've only done one, but we used the 25, and plan to continue.

I have a question about the PIO shots. Why is this still in practice when there are (seemingly) so many studies that show vaginal progesterone is equally effective? The shots are just so horrible. I took them with my second FET for about two weeks and thought it was the most dreadfully painful thing of the entire IVF process. I told my RE that and he switched me back to Crinone. Why are RE's still using the IM shots?

I would really really love to not have to do the PIO shots. My doc says the other stuff isn't as effective. If I end up pg, I may just have to beg for another option.

I haven't taken the PIO shots yet... My first time taking them will be with my upcoming FET. For my IVF I used crinone. I've been talking to my hubby as well who is confused about the switch to shots, and I am hoping maybe I can talk to my doc about skipping them and using the crinone again. The stress of gearing up for these injections cannot be good for us either. From what I was told by one of the REs, there was a new study that progesterone shots resulted in 50% more pregnancies than the progesterone suppositories.

I never did PIO for my fresh, but for FET they do the suppositories PLUS PIO. Once pg they wean off and add more suppository.

Because it is all simulated they want the most concentration going straight to the source and easily monitored through blood test.

I have the 25 gages, but they suggested the bigger ones for the PIO since its so thick.

Tomorrow is the estrogen shot with the 25 1/2 g.... I'm so nervous :/
