My IVF was changed to IUI after a dominant follicle took over the 8 other follicles that we were hoping would keep growing. The nurse said on the phone to start progesterone suppositories after the triggger shot twice daily. This seemed odd to me as I have heard that progesterone can stop ovulation, but did what the nurse said. She was not very specific about when to take them. I took them starting the day after trigger at around 2PM & 10PM & then the morning of IUI at around 7AM. I had the IUI yesterday & warned the nurse doing IUI that there might be some messy residue from the progesterone down there. She was very surprised & asked why I had taken it before IUI. Upon hearing my explanation, she asked who the other nurse was & then told me that it may have suppressed ovulation but that if we are lucky the HCG had already started doing its job from the trigger shot. She also said that ovulation may happen a little bit later than we had expected & to make sure to have sex today & friday just in case. We were hoping that 3 eggs would ovulate as there were 2 small ones on the other side but now I am very worried that ovulation might have been completely suppressed although she did not say that might be an option.

I had cramping after IUI & a little stringy bleeding in clear mucus after getting home from IUI yesterday evening. The cramps felt like AF wanted to start but today I do not have either of these issues. Our last IUI was 4 years ago & did not involve any stimulation med's or trigger shot prior to it. I had no cramps or spotting then.

What do you all think about this??

Um, honestly ? I'd be LIVID!

I am praying this cycle worked and you'll have nothing to worry about, but honestly, if it doesn't........ I would PITCH a major fit and demand that they supply the meds for your next cycle or reimburse you for the meds you did use, because she COMPLETELY gave you the wrong instructions that could impact the success of the cycle.

I'm Sooooo sorry they gave you the wrong instructions, talk about stressful. And you should take the progesterone 12 hours apart or so. Why are they not giving you better instructions. Mine is all written out and we have to sign it stating we understand. It also has timeline instructions "take PIO shot between 7-9pm", etc...

Praying that none of this is needed and you get a beautiful BFP and you'll be laughing at your crazy cycle and how it worked all the way to the delivery room!

Thanks ladies. It is very frustrating! Check out my venting post. It tells of the other unprofessional mistakes the nurses made at the beginning of my cycle #2.........
