April, if they are mature, they will have an egg inside them and have the same chance of fertilizing. If they aren't mature, they won't have an egg inside them and won't be able to even try to fertilize. However, if your doctor is triggering you, he must think your eggs look mature. He wouldn't trigger you if he thought they were too small.

Anything over 12mm can contain a viable egg. However, not all follicles contain an egg, no matter the size, even a huge one. They saw 9 follies in me during my 2nd IVF and I still retrieved 11 follies, all containing eggs, so a couple of my smaller ones did catch up.

Are you doing ICSI or will the sperm fertilize naturally? We did ICSI, where they actually inject a sperm into an egg. I highly suggest ICSI, after spending all this money.....

We have six day five embryos left which means three more transfers if this one doesn't work. I'm trying not to worry, but time sure is dragging by. It didn't seem slow until a couple days before my transfer. Now it's dripping by so slow I could scream!

I was swollen and tender yesterday and this morning. I'm so glad the retrieval was a success at 31 eggs. They tell me I'll never need to do this again and I will have my little basketball team if I want. Lol! We planned to donate leftover embryos because nothing is more beautiful than giving life. Today is the first time I have actually believed that this will work. My doc has so much confidence that it will stick that I'm buying into the koolaid!!! Sticky baby dust to all!!!

Baby2014 that is fantastic news. 31 eggs, that is SOOOOO awesome. I am so glad everything went well. I have been thinking of you a lot and can't wait to follow your journey.

I didn't want to be a downer so I was going to wait until I knew how many fertilized tomorrow to provide an update, however, since you asked, I'll share!

Today's ER had some complications. They had a hard time getting me under and had to use a lot more anesthesia. Once they got in, they couldn't get the eggs off my wall and did some flushing and scrapping to try and get them out, with little success. The procedure took twice as long as it normally would have; I was out for just under an hour. They were able to get 9. A lot of the follicles didn't have eggs in them (even the larger ones). The doc said we will likely have something to transfer but might not have anything to freeze. However, we paid extra to do multiple IVF cycles for one price so if this first one doesn't take, we have more times to get it right. If we have to do another cycle, they are going change up the protocol. Not sure to what, but that is what they said.

I am keeping positive (after the initial shock of only getting 9 from 27 follicles) and will know more tomorrow and Tuesday. No one said this would be easy, huh?

Hope everyone else is doing well!

Kelkl- I am so sorry you had such a difficult ER. Even though it was not what you expected 9 is still not a bad number and the most important part is that you get 1 to transfer ....remember you only need 1. Again I am sorry you had such a hard day

Baby2014! that's fantastic news!!! i can't wait to hear how they progress

Kelkl-i am so sorry to hear of your complicated ER. im sending over lots of smiles & hugs your way. i love your positive spirit! i think it makes a huge difference during all of this craziness.

i hope both or you beautiful embies

we had a rough day today. hubby was in a T-bone accident. i'm praying that he doesn't get too sore. i'm just so thankful that it wasn't worse that it was. it really shook me up inside. i'm so emotional from the meds.
we trigger in 3.5 hrs. i am so anxious to see how many eggs we'll get

XOXO positive sticky vibes <3

Neji-the waiting game is so hard. i hope your ET goes smoothly!

Leah-thanks Lovie! that's good to know. i feel like i learn so much from your posts <3

Baby2014, wow! I didnt even know that was possible! Dang! And how good of you to donate. DH and I had discussed that if we ever had extras, guess we will have to see how they take and if they need to get more.

kelkl, dont be discouraged. All you need is one, right? 9 eggs, 9 chances. I haven't heard from the Dr to confirm but he is doubtful they will be able to freeze any, so out of 6 we may only have the 1 they transfered. But thats all it takes! (Still hoping I get a call tomorrow that they did well enough... fingers crossed) Sticky sticky thoughts!

April, trigger night! Hope it wasnt any trouble, wishing you the best on Saturday!

As for me... waiting to hear back on the 2 remaining embabies, and on house arrest... my DH and my mom have teamed up to keep me in and down since the surgery. No standing, walking, driving, nothing.... ssshhh... I jail broke and got a cheeseburger from McDonald's, it was a 2 minute drive and I was desperate for some fresh air!!! I have to go feed my sisters cats in the morning and DH brought me a ventilator mask from his wood shop and made me swear to wear it!!! Hes sweet, but I cant imagine what they will be like if I do get pregnant!
