So I joined WW yesterday.
I realize I don't have a ton to lose - only 8-10lbs, but I figure if i can stick to the plan it can only help my chances.
So far the points system seems pretty easy as far as keeping track of stuff, much easier than calorie counting.
I have it free for 7 days so we will so how I like it at the end of the week.
Bonus: I have lost 2.6 lbs since the start of the year. my dh pointed out that its probably just all the goodies i had over the holidays coming off! lol

I love Weight Watchers. I have lost 30lbs and I'm almost to my lifetime membership. I get compliments on how much I've lost daily
Edit to add: Its also really nice how many meetings there are in Toronto!!

Oh yay girls! I'm glad others are doing WW as well
I have the Baked Beef Ziti in the oven right now. I'm going to make a whole whack of veggies to go with it since apparently i can only eat 1/8 of this scrumptious creation.
To be honest I've been a little hungry today, BUT i'm determined to do this, so i dont even care. plus i will feel better once i eat this dinner.
I'm trying to drink a lot of perrier cause the bubbles are filling
I'm kind of afraid to go to the meetings honestly, because I dont have a lot to lose and I feel like people might judge me for wanting to get to my goal weight. I'm a small person, but i've gained 10 lbs in the last 2 yrs, so that's what i want to lose.
I also did an hour of exercise today at the gym - a class! woo exercise points!

good luck sarah! I tried Weight Watchers once and didn't really like it... maybe now that i'm actually more motivated to lose weight, I would like it more... but who knows. I just didn't like the idea of paying that much for going to one meeting a week and then you're pretty much on your own for the week...

vee - the online version is pretty cool! the only thing was i had to put that i was from california because the only zip code i know is 90210, and they dont have canadian options.
it seems like they kind of have you covered with the online thing, because if you dont feel like sitting and figuring out how many point are in something they have like a guestimate of what it would be with their setPoints, that you can use.
ps. i was starving by the end of the night last night so i totally went over my alotted points. i'm already at 7 points today and i've only eaten breakfast. i think its all the coffees i drink, these half points here and there add up.....but I gotta use those weekly spare points they give you sooooooooo maybe its ok ?

I started WW the first time 3 or 4 years ago. It's such a great program because it's something you can do lifelong. It's all about portion control & moderation. It's awesome. Sarah those coffees WILL add up, but you can use flex points for those! Just remember at night when you're feeling hungry, think about all of those points you wasted drinking them and that should help you substitute FF milk for cream in the am, etc.
I'll have to dig up some old posts in here... I've posted a handful of really good WW recipes. The BBQ meatloaf & pizza casserole both come to mind.
Vienna, I agree that I can't justify spending hte $ to go to meetings. My friend's mom was a leader and I ordered all the info and she explained things to me. I did join for a couple months just because I had the extra cash, and for me personally, I didn't get much out of the meetings. But when I've got my mind set on something I'm pretty good about it, whereas others really need the accountability of a weekly weigh in with other people.
Sarah-- I wouldn't worry about feeling bad for having a smaller amount to lose. Let's face it, everyone in that room knows what it feels like to want to be thinner and healthier, and you're in that boat as well. Some will probably just admire you, assuming you've been there a lot longer and are near lifetime or ARE lifetime. When I was at meetings I was so proud of people for succeeding, or my heart went out to them when they had a hard week... but I honestly wasn't sitting there judging other people. Besides, the last 10 pounds are the hardest to lose. They take longer to come off because you don't have as much to spare. So you'll go in there having lose .8 or 1 pound and some of the bigger ladies will be taking off 5-8/wk just because they have a longer way to go to goal. Don't sweat it!
Also... this is my 'go to' website for all things restaurants! It's updated with the points to most restaurants. I don't know how much it'll help you ladies in Canada out, but check it out anyway.
Dotti's weight loss zone
I just linked you to the entire site, but here is the restaurant page specifically.
Another great thing about WW is after doing it for a while, even when you stop... in the back of your head it's still there. You KNOW that that french fry is worth 8 points... and that you just had a 9 point burger, lol.

Good for you! WW is awesome! I have been doing WW since June and have lost 26 lbs and ran 2 5Ks (which I could NEVER run before, but WW motivated me). I actually am not a paying member, I kind of cheated and borrowed things from friends and co-workers and stuck to the plan.

PLAN!!! WW is all about planning, that will help you all day. Also, workout and earn some APs, that will give you more points. I get 23 pts a day and here is what I am doing today:
Snack: Granola Bar 2 pts
Bkft: Oatmeal 2 pts
Lunch: Tuna, Green Giant frozen veggies, yogurt, and 25 cal hot chocolate 3 pts
Snack: Chocolate (cant break this habit lol) and 100 cal popcorn 3 pts
Dinner: Chicken, corn on the cob, mixed veggies with 2 tsp of oil (squash, carrots, and more corn lol) 11 pts
Snack: 97& FF ice cream sandwich and cereal with 1% milk 5 pts
a total of 26 pts, so 3 over (so I dig into my weekleys) OR I could just cut out the ice cream sandwich or cereal. I just have a big appetite lol

cool - thanks for sharing your points for the day, that really helps me.
Here's what I had today...i am ok if i dig into my weekleys....
Breakfast: Coffee (x3 with milk & sugar), oatmeal with a banana on it = 7.5 pts
Lunch: Sandwich, soup, salad = 8.5 pts
Dinner: Baked beef ziti & grilled balsamic veggies = 5 pts
Snack: fruit smoothie = 1.5 pts
coffee with milk= 0 pts
So that's 22.5 pts today which is 4.5 pts over my daily goal of 18 pts. But technically you get an extra 5 pts a day from that 35 extra a week, so i'm not overly worried. I could have avoided the smoothie if i had just brought some veggies with me. I definitely need to lighten up my lunch. i'm learning! :-)
oh and i worked out for an hour.

it wasnt exactly in my plan but i threw out half of the bun and ate it anyways, i'll jsut skip one of the fruits i had planned.
yes you heard me right, i had tried to plan todays meals!
but when i was putting it in the points tracker i looked up some mcdonalds breakfast items just for fun, did you know a bacon egg & cheese mcgriddles (the most scrumtious thing on earth) is like 11 pts!!!????? omg i almost died when i saw that lol

Ive just had a bad week with a sweet tooth errr!!!!!! HGH are the 8 healthy guidelines (or something like that). I am on Flex and I know they have Momentum now so I dont know the rules for that. The flex idea is to get 5 servings of fruits and veggies A DAY, 2 teaspoons of good oils A DAY, and 2 servings of dairy A DAY (has to contain 30% of calcium or more to be considered 1 dairy).

oh ok yeah i'm doing momentum, and i guess i just tick it off on my tracker thing because it lists all that there. i had a salad for lunch today, plus lots of veggies in my dinner and 1/2 cup of strawberries as a snack.
I'm looking at my point right now and apparently i have one left??? *** lol
I got some weight watchers carrot cakes today and had one, so maybe i will have another one of those later!

Yea, I have been VERY bad today. I got everything in, and then A LOT more. My sweet tooth is gettign the best of me. So I can admit it out loud, let me tell you what I have had today (it will make me feel better, if that makes sense):
Bkft: Fiber one granola bar, oatmeal
Snack: Yogurt and carrots
Lunch: Grilled Cheese, 2 serv of mix veggies, ice cream sandwich
Snack: chips and salsa (oh about 6 pts worth lol and VERY water retaining!!!!), oh and a cookie size worth of raw cookie dough
Dinner: Grilled Cheese (low on points and I have been craving this SOO bad for the past 2 weeks, cheese quesidillas too), 1 serv of potatoes with 2 tsp of oil
Snack: 25 cal hot chocolate and maybe some carrots
So a total of like 30 pts...I did earn 2 APs though lol, so I only went like 5 pts over rather than 7....OUCH! Someone slap me!!!!

quick question - how do you know how many activity points something is? like i do the gym classes where we use weights, but its not cardio, so i've been putting moderate level. as in 1 hour equals 2 pts, is that right?

Are you using the calculator on the website/online? I dont have access to that because I am not an online member (but I use the forums). That doesn't sound right, but it all depends on your weight and height. I know 30 minutes for me is usually about 2 pts for weight lifitng, but I weight 165ish and i am 5'5.

hrm, yeah i really don't know if i'm doing the activity points thing right or not.
i considered it moderate because it wasnt like i was sweating buckets or gasping for air, mind you i was working very hard, and i was sweating for sure and my muscles were getting shaky i was working them so hard.
