I'm trying to come up with a unique way of us all to support each other's eating habits. I know DF often feel like we're eating the same type dishes night after night... but I hate when I try to do new recipes on short notice b/c I feel like I always have to run out to the store for something different and small that I've forgotten or don't have at home.

Would anyone be interested in trying to do some kind of menu goal that we build together? Maybe where one person is in charge of that week and they design the menu for 5 dinners or something and give us a grocery list and a recipe, and each night we cook that dish and take a photo of how it turned out... and provide all of the nutritonal info along with it. Something similar to that. I'm sure we all have certain dishes we love, or recipe books of things we could share with eachother.

Or just come up with some kind of idea where we eat the same meal like one night a week... or a month... or something? Or we could just all work together and build a menu... like a month long menu with a grocery list... so that we don't have to worry about it. I know I'm very interested in this b/c DF and I get so tired of the 'what's for dinner game' and often are already hungry and wind up turning to fast food. It would be ideal for us to have a monthly menu and grocery shopping list where it's like "oh, it's the second tuesday of the month... it's shepard's pie night' or something. It would just be so easy. I've never taken the time to come up with such a list b/c it seems a little overwhelming and I just can't think of that much variation in our diet. I'm scared to try different 'exotic' foods like plantain and diff. kinds of legumes and tofu to switch things up. Maybe if we all have different tastes we could work together and build a menu.

Does any of this sound like something you'd be interested in doing/trying/working on? Or has it inspired any other ideas we can do to help one another?

i think that's a great idea! i'd love to try that. the only problem is i work in the evenings a lot of the time, so i would be able to try them out but probably not always on the days everyone else is doing it. i've got some good recipes to give though

I'm so picky it's hard. I DO eat the same things when "dieting", thats how I get so regimented and if I cant do what Im used to, I sort of get anxiety and freak out......

It was a lot easier for me to maintain healthy eating habits when I was single and/or living at my parents. I'm pleased with just a sandwich or a frozen meal (however high in sodium those may be, lol) for dinner... but with Ben I feel like we make eating into an event and it's something he likes to do together, which is what causes more issues for me.

and then I just don't eat..... vicious cycle

Mike is currently beginning his lap band surgery process , because he says Ive had him at his "Worst" and he wants to marry me at his "best".... . But we have opposite eating habits, what I love, he hates... and vice versa..

I think that's a really good idea Shannon!! I'll have to look up some healthy recipes tho, lol But that sounds great because it's interactive and you don't have to think about what you want to eat.

I'd love to do something like this, although I'm also a routine person, and anything out of my routine gives me anxiety. Maybe I'll look up some recipes during my down-time after the kids go home, and see if I find anything worthwhile. It's hard because it's just DD and I right now, and I usually just cook kid-friendly meals. I do like the idea, I think I'd be healthier if I got into the habit of cooking dinner every night, especially a healthy dinner.
