I feel like an ex-smoker who now wants everyone to stop smoking! But I did just quit drinking soda and I've been reading about its effect on weight gain. A regular can of soda has A LOT of sugar. I was googling about it and I found this little article: http://www.kpvi.com/Global/story.asp?s=6120524

I have no idea how reliable it is but still, this part at the end is scary: "Researchers estimate drinking a 12-ounce sugar sweetened drink every day is equivalent to about one pound of weight gain every three to four weeks." That's over 12 pounds a year!!!

Another article.

Even if you're only drinking diet sodas, like I was, there are some researches that link them to obesity as well.

Article 2

Drink water people!!!

Diet Pepsi/pop totally is my addiction. I've been without Red Bull for 2 days now, but giving up all pop would REALLY be a challenge!

The one thing that bothered me when i stopped drinking pop (teehee soda in USA language) was that waiters/waitresses would give me stink eye for only ordering water, but u know what, i totally don't care anymore cuz that is what i genuinely want! I prefer tap water too....bottled water ends up costing more than gasoline!

I LOVE diet coke. It's my weakness for sure. I'm in the process of cutting out all soda and artifical sweeteners, but it's a work in progross

Stupid question... but... is pop or soda the same as soft drinks? You are talking about coke, lemonade, fanta etc aren't you?!

yes, in canada it's "pop" in the states it's "soda" but all in all, it's all soft drinks. coke, pepsi, fanta, etc.

i drink coke zero, but i'm trying not to drink it a lot. i'm hoping to maybe only have it once a week. but when we go out i usually only have water. partly because i know it's better for me and partly because i can't afford to have anything else lol

Correction: In Buffalo, which might as well be part of Canada based on our accents, love for hockey, and other assorted things, it's defintely pop. It cuts off in about Syracuse-- right before central New York
