I really feel like I am... If you look at my post in "Confessions" and then Today's Log, I'm just losing it I think.. Is it as bad as it seems? Should I just go for the Value Meal and eat my french fries and not worry? Will it help? I don't want to lose my progress but I'm losing it.......

okay, to be honest, i think you could be eating MORE. It's really easy to be on a diet or lifestyle change and feel like you're doing good b/c you ate less. but it won't last if you keep depriving yourself. this is why i do so well on WW, b/c I know everything has a point value, and it's just a matter of balancing good choices and my ever-present cravings. haha. this way i don't ever 'cheat' even if i go to taco bell or eat a slice of cheesecake or whatever... i just have to hold myself accountable for it. i don't know what brands and types of foods you ate today, but i'm going to give a guestimate just to give you an idea of how you didn't do THAT bad even with your binge:

yogurt 2
granola, maybe 3?
2 sandwiches 7 (assuming no mayo)
curve bar 2
ziti 6 (i had that too )
light string cheese 1
3 chips delux 6

so you had 27 points today. that's totally not bad. you said you're what like 5'3" and 170? your daily points allowance is probably like 24ish, plus you get an 'extra' 35 points a week to divide up however you want... so you are SO totally fine, girl.

now, to look at it this way -- WHERE THE HELL ARE YOUR VEGGIES?!

if you had paired your ziti with a salad with carrots and cucumbers and tomatoes, onions, mushrooms... you would have felt much fuller, gotten in tons of veggies and fiber... and it would have been ZERO points, aka hardly any calories at all!

just think about all the 'freebies' you can add that will help... like a pickle (0 points or like 5 cal) with your sandwiches at lunch.

bottom line is, even if you felt like you binged, you binged on BETTER foods than mcdonalds or whatever. and if you feel like you just can't live without some burger king, fine, but get a small fry or onion ring, and a regular cheese burger... just see what LIFESTYLE CHANGE type choices you can make to make a bad choice better and still enjoyable. then spend the rest of your day eating low cal / low fat/ low point foods to balance that out. have a 2 point or 100 cal oatmeal for breakfast, the warmth makes it especially filling... you know what I mean, just BALANCE, MODERATION, and PORTION CONTROL.

but don't beat yourself up, you didn't blow today by ANY means.

keep it up!

Thank you Shannon! I feel much better. I don't feel so badly now. Tomorrow I will stick to the good eating habits I've gotten used to and get over this feeling of such restriction.

As far as weight, Actually, I'm gonna put it right out with the straight up truth.. I'm 5"5' and 201 lbs as of today. I hate that I weigh that much so I wasn't going to share. But whatever.

I'm gonna watch TV and go to bed and wake up feeling better about myself.. I have made so many positive changes this month with pop, and Red Bull, and French Vanilla coffees, and fast food (like BK-- constantly) and going out on Fridays to total garbage dinners at Fridays or Chili's including a few rounds of drinks with friends.....

As far as vegetables, I bought yams this week. I can heat them in the microwave, put a bit of no-cal spray butter and some splenda, and I love those.. I should have had one of those rather than the cookies. Especially since I got a huge stomach ache and actually threw up because I ate the cookies and chugged water so quickly.

I hope you guys don't think I'm a loser.

think you're a loser?! puh-lease. of COURSE we think you're a loser... you're a weight loser, just like the rest of us!

seriously though, i have no idea why you're beating yourself up! you're doing a WONDERFUL job and making a ton of positive changes and today REALLY wasn't bad at all. Sure, you could have eaten more veggies or fruits and less processed foods, but you know what, is one thing at a time. every single one of us could have eaten the exact amount of protien carbs and fat according to nutrition experts, but COME ON. not realistic. so what if you ate several LITTLE bags of cookies? those 3 itty bitty bags don't even come close to the amount any one of us would have probably had if we had free range to a cookie jar.

Michelle, I think, esp. with your history of ED in the past ( and no I don't mean erictile dysfuntion ) that you would benefit from a program like weight watchers or really using calorie count. At this point you're just aiming to eat 'better' and make the choices you have be lower in calories... but that doesn't give you guidelines and just sets you up for feeling bad if you eat something high in calories or not healthy. Sure, cookies aren't GOOD for you, but they aren't BAD for you either when you consume them in small portions. I think you need something to give yourself a reality check so you realize... hey, this isn't so bad afterall. Otherwise you're going to feel restricted like you can't have fast food or if you do you did something bad.

I'm such a big fan of WW that i'm always suggesting it to people, and I don't mean to push it on you, but if you're just aiming to eat better and don't have some kind of program./guidelines... then how will you know when you didn't binge or blow it but just treated yourself to something reasonable, kwim?

I'm on the laptop in front of the TV and losing my train of thought so I hope all that is somewhat cohesive and not too repetitive.

Shannon (by the way I just found you on TheKnot, lol) you are right. I needed perspective and I will probably need it again, but thank you x100000 for giving it to me. If I were at home, and those were homemade cookies, I bet 3 or 4 of them would have had the same amount of calories.

As you can see, I get hyper-focused and obssesed once my mind gets in weight loss mode. What is the calorie count website? I will use that for perspective-- I can't afford weight watchers.

Thanks for the support through that meltdown ladies. I'll try to avoid having another!

On your Knot Page, on the right there is a search for a couple's website in a blue box.

The BEST thing about healthy eating is that you can always always always start over with your next meal. So you ate something bad, even a few days of it. Its done, its already eaten. Make the next meal good for you and dont worry

Thanks Lauren. I use MyMonthlyCycles, too. I've been using it for about 2 years.
