1/4 c sugar or honey
1/4 c oil
2 tsp salt
3 1/2 to 4 c flour (white, wheat, or combination)
1 packet or 2 1/4 tsp yeast
In big bowl, combine water, dry milk, sugar, oil, egg, and salt. Stir until the egg and oil are mixed in well. Add the yeast and 3 1/2 cups flour. Stir until dough is too stiff to stir, and then use your clean hands. If it's too sticky, use a little more flour. Knead and knead for a full 10 minutes. spank, pull, fold, squish, etc... a full 10 minutes. When you've kneaded for 10 minutes, cover and let the dough rest for about 20 minutes. It'll rise a bit.
After it has rested, form into small balls. Place them on an oiled cookie sheet or in oiled muffin cups. Cover with a towel and let rise in a warm spot for an hour or so. Place in the oven, set to 375, and bake 20-24 minutes, until golden brown. Brush with butter when they come out of the oven.
