So today DH and I did some grocery shopping at Walmart and we brought Alexandra with us. So first thing we did when we got there was go straight to the baby department so we could scope out toys and get her a toy to keep her entertained in the cart. We (and she) fell in love with this toy Learn & Dance Interactive Zoo&#153 - 80-078500 - VTechkids.com

And she hung on to that toy the rest of the almost 2 hour long shopping trip... when it came time to checkout, that was the last item we had to ring up (since she was still playing with it) so she screamed when we had to take it away from her for the cashier to ring up. So the cashier rings it up and tells us that she can't let us buy it. We had a screaming baby and she tells us that she has no idea why but it was an "unsellable" item. So we said fine (DH and I just wanted to get out of there ASAP since Alexandra was just flipping out) and paid and left the store.

So we went down the road to Toys R Us to look for that same toy and we did find it... but we had a huge argument over whether to buy it or not (DH was afraid it had been recalled or something and I thought it was just Walmart being gay and forgetting to put a price on it or something) so he refused to buy it for her even though we knew she liked that toy a LOT. So we ended up getting a different toy.... but I'm still STEAMING over this. UGH. I know it's just a toy but still... I felt like we broke her poor little heart today.

Aww that stinks!! I think you were right, if there were a recall on it I doubt it would still be for sale on Vtechs website.

I don't think they carry it on the TRU shelf if it was recalled. I'd be ticked also.

I'm sure she forgot all about the toy now

It's listed on walmart's website so I don't see why it was 'unsellable'
Walmart.com: Vtech - Learn & Dance Interactive Zoo: Baby & Toddler Toys
I would have been angry too!

When we have gotten Charlie toys after he picked them up in the store and carried them round with him, he promptly ignored them altogether as soon as we got home. Try not to let it get to you. It's frustrating to have your shopping trip ruined, but I'm sure Alexandra is totally over it by now.

I would be mad at WM for not telling you WHY it was unsellable!! Thats insane! Did they give you any reason at all? Wonder if its still there or on their shelves?

The cashier turned the register monitor around and it said **do not sell item** every time she scanned it. So she went "I'm sorry but I can't let you get this. I have no idea why but you cannot buy this item" and by that point DH and I were just too frazzled with having a SCREAMING baby to ask further. It's horrible though because my baby doesn't just cry... she just SCREAMS and throws tantrums (in case you haven't seen the video I posted in Snowy Secrets).

I haven't been back there yet so I have no idea if it's still on the shelves.
