Just got the call back from the neurologist herself, she wanted to give me the news, she was in Seattle, which worried me.
Cooper brain is fine, no slow blood leaks, no tumors.
His problem is that his sinus' are completely blocked. She said by the looks of the MRI, they have been blocked for so long that the mucous has almost crystallized or calcified in some way? Any ways, he needs to have that removed. He sees an Otolaryngologist already for his hearing loss & speech therapy, so that's fine, and we have an apt already in place which is good.
I am shocked though, this kid barely has had any colds or ear infections, it's weird to hear that his sinus' are so badly blocked & have been. This explain his head pain/pressure & his equilibrium being thrown off where he doesn't want to pick his head up & move at times, the pressure is intense to the point he can't function.
Poor kid. Now we have to figure out the next step. She said that they do a surgery on children that can clear that up pretty easily but because of his age & where they are going into certain cavities of his head, they would need to have him in the ICU for 24 hours to monitor his breathing but then he could go home if he was able to tolerate foods & everything.
Not great news, I'd rather have nothing in the results, but it's much better than a tumor or bleeding. I'll take this any day.
WOOHOO!!! Things could have been much worse. I am so happy that his brain is not involved. After all the back and forth we have had, and the past posts I have read, I am close to tears for you. I am so glad.
