I had to bring Cooper to Children's on Tuesday to see his Otolaryngologist whom he's been seeing since he's been born for his hearing loss (born deaf). Any ways, in 07' Cooper started to regain some hearing, not a fully but more than ever expected. This past Tuesday as a normal checkup, they wanted to see where his hearing was & did another hearing test on Cooper. The results came back that his right ear is non-functioning again (no hearing) & his right ear is barely hearing...again.
Also... due to his "allergy" issue that they discovered back this past December's procedure, they are going to be removing his tonsils & adenoids & draining his sinuses on top of the hearing repairs that they are going to attempt to do..yet again, he will be an overnight ICU at Children's Hospital. We have no "date" yet but I'll be getting a call soon. We did the pre-op on Tuesday to get it out of the way, we were already there, 5 hrs. later, we came home. I signed the papers & all is in progress now. Just waiting for a date.
This kid has had so many procedures/surgeries I honestly have lost count. That many. I feel horrible. He is so strong I know that but I feel so bad. He doesn't deserve this.
I'm sorry to hear that your little guy is going through such a tough time! You are in my thoughts, and I hope that everything goes well for you and your family.
He reminds me so much of Sadie and all the stuff that we went through with her. Then one day I realized that it was all done and it was so great. She had her tonsils and adnoids out and did great. It is not as bad as you think that it is going to be. Kal was 22 when he had his out and that was hard. He lost 17lbs in 10 days. Sadie was eatting food that night and never complained about it. She was released that day too. I wonder why they are keeping him over night? Did you ask?
I will be keeping little man in my prayers.
Thank you ~* Helen *~ for the best all about me siggie! You are absolutely fabulous!
Because of his torticollis & low hypotonia, he has to be monitored overnight for breathing due to the muscles in his neck being so "off"... they want to make sure he can breath right afterward for 24 hrs in ICU at Children's, in case something went wrong, we have to be there, we live over an hour away & if he stopped breathing or had a problem, it would be too late by the time we got there, and our local hospital doesn't have the staffing & doctors for the children needs so he has to remain there.
I just hope it all goes well.
Teighan, my 1 year old has a swallowing test that needs to happen on Feb. 16th, he doesn't eat anything other than Gerber 2 foods & can't tolerate anything other than Alimentum formula. They want to see if something is obstructing his throat causing him not to be able to swallow right. Sigh... I am stressed out. These kids.
And then, w/ my DS' news about you know what (that I talked to you on the phone a while back) I am just all over the place. I don't know what I am doing anymore. I feel a mess emotionally & sick physically, not like a flu, just stressed & tired.
Oh boy! You really have a lot going on. I'm so sorry.
My BFF has a son with many issues. He's had several major & a few minor surgerys in his 6 short years & he has to have another major one this summer. I've seen what she & her family have gone through. It's so hard. I can't imagine.
