So hooray for me , Meyson is back to throwing his tantrums every night at bedtime. I so thought we were past this, but now every night when it comes to bedtime, he starts in on them again. All the others during this past week have been very short lived. He would start one, I would use my "this is serious" voice, calm but stern, tell him to stop, he would quickly quiet down and go to sleep. Tonight we're already 20 min in and it doesn't seem to be winding down any time soon and I just don't know if I have the strength for this right now. Between Olivia just getting over a cold, adjusting to going from SAHM to working full time and some other stress in my life, I just don't have the energy for this. Also, he and Olivia have the same bedtime and it is impossible to get her to sleep when he is screaming.
Tonight, telling him to stop is NOT working at all, so I've gone to ignoring him which used to work but it sometimes meant that the tantrum would last for over an hour and now with the baby, I just can't have that. She has to go to bed at a decent time too or she'll be a total crab all the next day. Luckily, tomorrow is another day off so hopefully we'll get this straightened out and tomorrow night will be better.
The only change he's had lately is me working, but I've been working for three weeks now and this is just now starting so I'm thinking that's not it. I just have no idea what is triggering this or how to keep it from happening. Any thoughts? Maybe there's something I'm missing....
Yes, thankfully things have gotten much better. After I posted, he screamed for about another 30 minutes and then finally went to sleep. Then we woke up about 3 more times screaming for things and trying to get out of bed, which of course woke Olivia up, but luckily she went back to sleep really easy. It was a really awful night and it left me exhausted but after that he's been really well behaved. I have no idea what was up with him, but I'm glad it's over and I'm keeping fingers crossed that we don't have another week like that ever.
