Olivia just turned 2 and is at that stage of copying everything Meyson does because he's older and during the past week, instead of calling me "mommy" all the time, sometimes she refers to me as "Amanda". I try not to let it bother me, because I know she's too young to understand, but I can't say that it doesn't hurt my feelings at all. I don't scold her, but I do insist that she call me "mommy".
Have any of you had this issue with your kids? And if so, how did you handle it?
No. But my daughter used to call her step mom "mommy" bc her younger step brother did so. They were both around age 2. So it bothered me but I didn't make an ordeal about it and eventually it stopped on it's own.

Once in a while, Daniel will call me Rachel instead of mom, but my older kids do that to me to annoy me. Clayton & Will call me Rachel so he hears it often. I don't get mad, but I do say "my name is mom, to you."
She's been doing it about half the time so I'm hoping it's just something she grows out of. I've been just telling her that I'm "mommy", but it's hard to explain to her why her brother doesn't call me mommy. I'm pretty sure that she has no idea that he even has a different mom because every time you ask her where he is when he's visiting BM, she will say that he's at school.
my youngest step son (he's 2) calls me mama all the time and he calls his birth mom mama too. his older brother who's 10 calls me amber and sometimes my hubby will tell camden (2 year old) go take this to amber and he will run over to me and hand whatever to me and call me mama. i'd just correct her and say 'my name is mommy' or something like that.
