In my opinion (and maybe it's also a part of my French heritage), you're NEVER too old to kiss your family, even Daddy. I'm thirty and I still kiss my dad on the lips, as well as my mum, and just about everyone else in my family.

YMMV, of course!

I think it all depends on you and your family. Some familys are extremely physically affectionate towards each other, lots of kisses, hugs, etc... Other familes are a bit more reserved with affection and rarely even give hugs. Nothing wrong with either one, it's all about what is comfortable in each family.

honestly don't know. I think it should be up to the family but I also agree there needs to be guidelines to follow. For example you don't kiss all males or even some extended family. Unless you know them well and the child understands the difference between proper kisses and inappropriate ones. In todays world you need to be extra careful because there are too many sick people out there that will take advantage.

If she's only kisses male figures in her life, she may just be mimicking the adult women in her life. If she sees women who only kiss men, then maybe she believes it's only ok to kiss men.

My advice would be that all of you need to sit down together and talk with her, ask her why she only kisses men and explain to her the difference between appropriate and inappropriate kissing.

Wow this is a toughy! I am not a mouth kisser with anyone - ask my dh

So not the best judge. My neighbor kisses everyone. Just last night we were all together & she kissed a male friend on the lips in front of his wife & her dh. Just the way she is. It is a bit concerning that it's only men but not seeing it I just don't know.

As far as dad sitting in the bathroom while she baths. I don't have an issue with that. We're pretty open in our house - so my 2 kids - boy 5 & girl 9 occasionally play in the bath tub together. Dh sits in there. I don't think there's anything wrong with that.

I voted 10+ but only because you didn't have an "other" option. I think it totally depends on the family dynamic.

I still kiss my dad on the lips, but my son (he's now 20) won't even kiss me period and hasn't for some time. My 5 year old and I kiss often, on the lips. I thin it's definitely different for little girls and their daddies, though.

I can completely understand your fear, and it's not unfounded. You just need to try and remember that your childhood is not her childhood. Hopefully you can sit her down and let her know about these things. As I suggested earlier, I think it's best to have a nice sit down with both SD and your DH.

A call to her mom is a good idea, however, unless her mom has experienced what you have, she may not get your concern. It's because of your experience why I feel that it's imperative that you be included in that conversation just in case there are questions that they can't answer. Or just don't fully understand your concern.

I am not sure, but I do still kiss my oldest son on his lips! Jack, and I am not ready to stop doing that yet.. I still love his little kisses!!

maybe its different with boys/mommas??
