Neely is meeting with the Dept. of Social Services this morning for the custody evaluation. I had assumed that they would visit the house and talk to all of us, but apparently they know what's up and just had him come to their offices. He's there now.

Phew. it took 3 hours! Don't you hate how men don't give you the blow by blow, like us women do. He said she asked a lot of questions. She gave her a lot of information and told her that some details he'd have to get from me. Apparently she will do a home visit, but not till July 13th. We have settlement conference on July 17th and then trial on August 30th. I really hope she can get her report done by then. She'll want to chat with everyone who lives here that day.

He didn't ask if she had met with Jen yet or not. I wish I could have gone with him.

Men are useless when it comes to providing details Glad you got the 1st step done & that the woman understand the situation.

That sound's like a guy's recollection of a conversation. It drives me nuts when dh does it and it drives him nuts when, to him, he's given me a perfectly acceptable rendition of what went down and I'm asking for more details.

Sounds like it went well though! I bet you'll be glad when all of this is over.

Yes, definitely. He said she did tell him that she rarely sees custody evals for a modification in custody. It's usually when the initial custody is set up. I don't know if that is a good thing or not. We didn't want the custody evaluation anyway, but they did and the Master (quasi Judge) said she was "reluctantly" ordering. I don't know that her hesitation or reluctance to order it means anything.

ugh.. you should have sent him with a pocket recorder. lol. When DH has to go to talk to them they keep trying to make me wait out in the main waiting room. Last time he snapped at the woman "if you make her stay here, I'll be back tomorrow because I won't have a dang clue what you told me. Consider her a personal logic device!"

Men and their vague explanations. I hope it means that it's just better for you guys. If she was reluctant to do it in the first place, it sounds like she's just pacifying the other side.
