I just thought I would update on Sean's knee. It is not good at all. We have been in the hospital since Friday. I hope he is discharged tomorrow. He has a staph infection in his knee.
All of this started from a slide in softball almost 3 weeks ago now and then he went to football practice and put on knee pads that had the infection on it and it got in the open wound. He had an abcess come up on his knee Thursday and showed it to me after his awards ceremony Thurs night and it was huge and bad. It had to be opened and he had to be hospitalized for IV antibiotics.
Right now we are on a no softball, no football, no sports of any kind until the hole in his knee is completely healed. He has a pretty long way to go.
We got the culture results and it is MRSA. We don't have to really change the way we have done anything since Friday, but I do worry about things before then. The football coach has been notified along with the team trainer and school nurse. His knee is still draining so she is having to change the bandage at school.
Other than the school nurse absolutely no one other than me or Jonah are touch his knee or anything that has been in contact with his knee. We don't want the two little kids to get it.
I am personally going to clean his football equipment with bleach before summer practice starts!!!
The plus side is the "strain" seemed to be more from infection build up and he is walking much better.
