I can't tell you how much nicer it is to have a little more space and a yard that they can go out in (when it isn't 108 degrees outside, anyway). They can hang out in different rooms if they want to, and they have space to play with toys that isn't in the middle of everyone else. They can keep more toys here so they have less to carry back and forth. They spent their first full week of summer vacation with us at the end of June/beginning of July, and they were here again last weekend for their normal time with dh. We're about 10 minutes from my il's house too, which is really nice because their neighborhood has a pool that they like taking the kids to.

My youngest dss is a little over 3, and a complete sweetheart. All last weekend he kept running up to me and saying, "This is Daddy's new house. I live here!", giving me a kiss and running away to play with his trains. It made me really happy because we do only have standard 2 weekends per month (plus a holiday schedule) visitation plan, and having grown up with divorced parents I know how hard it can be to be between two houses. Sometimes it can feel like you don't really live anywhere and you're a perpetual visitor and so hearing things like that from them makes us feel really good about the home that we're trying to build. The other dsc have all mentioned how much more they like the new house too. I'm sure being able to keep more of their things here helps. My oldest dsd has already planned out how she would like to decorate the girls' bedroom. We have enough seating space that when we watch a movie, dh can have both of his girls snuggled up with him instead of both of them clamoring to sit with him. My 8 yo dss can take the iPad into his room and watch all of the (annoying ) Minecraft parody and/or tutorial videos that he wants to without us having to ask him to turn it down a million times.

Just wanted to share.

Awesome!!!!! I hear you on the space thing. Reme loves being able to just go in his room and play and have space and toys. Rather than under our feet.

And your yard.. is awesome
