What do you do when you have a sick kid and your ex tells you that you "have to take the sick kid to the doctor" to make sure they are ok?

Yep, this happened yesterday here. I was flabbergasted when Dani's dad said that I "had" to take Dani to the dr because she was sick.

I did not take her in, but I did call her dr and tell him what was going on with her and what treatment I was doing and the meds I was giving her. He said the meds were fine and everything was good and I can get a school note and there was no reason to bring her in right now unless something changed.

I guess I should mention that her doctor was my medical director on the ambulance when I worked EMS and has been the medical director at several day camps I have worked for scouts so he trusts my size up of what is going on.

I hate when people just think if a kid has even a cough they must be rushed to the DR.. kids GET SICK.. Audrey has been to the DR ONCE for something other than her well checks.. and that was because she was 5 weeks old and coughing like an old man. I hate when parents take their kid to the ER for a little fever.. and guess what, they are given Tylenol and get a 500$ hospital bill..

BM does the same thing, which is why she refuses to take insurance from DH because she'd have to do the co pay and she'd get a bill.

I don't have to deal with this but I definitely would be annoyed. But on the other hand, it's good that he cares enough about her to be concerned. He may not show it in the appropriate way but at least he cares.

I usually ask why they think they need to see a doc. and let them know I have it under control.

I usually get annoyed as well when someone's always barging in when it comes to my kids especially when it;s just a simple sneeze! They are always like: OMG he caught a cold! Or, always pushing me to have them checked up when it's a simple cough!

I was a paramedic for 10+ years. There is not much I can't handle with the kids. I took her straight to the ER with her burns. Simple illnesses or injuries that I have the things or meds to treat at home, I don't run to the doctor for. There is no need to. Our doctor also trusts my assessment as well.

Like Kris I don't have to deal with it. I would be annoyed and let him know I'm taking care of it for now and if it got worse I'll go to the doc and let him know.

I have to ditto Kris. I'd be annoyed.

Reme ends up at the Dr for sniffles a lot, mostly because he's so freaking hard to deal with that you can't send him to school, and the school wants a note.
