I have zero tolerance for kids playing games thinking they can get away with things. I picked up my sk from the dance tonight. In the car I reminded my oldest ss that there is to be no txting or video chatting now.(the other ones know and have not had any problems with this rule with them only him) The rule is no txting or video chatting after 10. Most parents are in bed by that time and cant personally watch what their children are doing. He goes to bed and then the younger one goes in there and they are watching a movie in their room. I walk in and ask the youngest to turn the computer off in the living room bc I just asked him to and he didnt. Oldest has his phone or Ipod on his belly and quickly moves it out of my sight. I asked him to give them to me and he replies oh Im just charging them. I give him the benefit of the doubt and say ok and remind him once again. an hour later at 1am I go in to turn their tv down bc I can hear it in the livingroom and there he is on his Ipod. I took them away and said I told you no txting. His response I was txting my mom and saying gn to my friend.... ummm doesnt matter My house my rules. So now they are mine at 10pm every night ( we only have him on the weekends) unless dad takes them away permanently for the weekend. ugh. You would think he would learn....! :/

We have a timer, and access to the internet is cut off from the kids' phones at 9:00 PM.

I'm sooo glad we don't deal with this.

Course, I think he's getting a tablet for Christmas.. so I guess it'll start then. Good thing we all agree that he can only use it with permission, so it'll be going to bed with me at night.

Yeah we have had problems like this before. With Ipods. And if they get caught using it when they aren't supposed to be then it gets taken for a week.

Spoke with dad about it today and (even though he agreed a month ago about no electronics after 10pm) he doesnt care anymore. Cant win for trying, and tired of being lied to. guess he doesnt see that. ugh.

I have everything shut off after a certain time here through the parental controls. I just wish I could do it with the phones too. Those are on a pre paid plan so I can't control those as I wanted to.

yeah we have metro not sure what he has but it still doesnt stop the txting and Im not sure how to set up where the wifi goes down at a certain time. which I dont know if I would like anyways bc Im usually up till 1 anyways.

I couldn't tell you how to do it right now because dh is the one who's good with the more nuanced IT stuff, but it is possible to restrict Wi-Fi access to specific IP addresses. That's what we do - the kids' IP addresses are blocked from the Wi-Fi at 9:00 pm but we can still use our computers if we want/need to.

hmmm I have read you can buy a nanny something or other for the computer but thats a lot of money. I really wish dp cared more about it. Especially since another girl just committed suicide in this county! why bc she was sexting and then got bullied! makes me so very angry!
