Reme, in 1/2 the year, has met, or exceeded the entire academic plan he was on. He is officially ready for 1st Grade (which is 1/2 over, but that's ok)!!!! Now they start getting him on track with his peers. They still have a lot of non academic stuff to work on (like random body movements, listening, talking back, gross and fine motor control.. but now that he needs less academic help, he can get more PT and OT).
After the meeting his teacher sat down with L and DH and said that at least 1/2 of the kids in her class come from divorced families. But we are the ONLY family who do what's best for Reme and get a long. She doesn't have to schedule separate meetings because they can sit in the same room together, that all four of us can do things together because it's what's best for Reme. She said he's the most well adjusted child of a semi recent divorce she's ever had in her classroom. She said that Reme's school life might be very different if things weren't as good as they are at home.
