Ok.. not only did she not let us know School was cancelled (well, we knew, but usually she texts early to tell Dh, and didn't until he texted her 10 min before he had to leave to get him from school), but she didn't send him with ANY winter gear. Yup, we have 6" of fresh snow and no boots or snow pants to play in.

And she even reminded him not to get his shoes wet..... well why the hell didn't you send him in his boots?

We don't have a full set of winter gear... because he is usually at school, and has to have the gear there. She was supposed to bring his Carhart pants over (because we bought them last year, and she's purchased 2 sets since), and he's at that stage where he needs one size of boot, but they aren't going to last him until next year, but the next size up don't fit at all.... Now he wants to go play in the snow, and we can't.

Yup... the snow in our yard is almost up to my knees. He's pretty disappointed... and mad at his mom... we didn't even have to say anything, he knew she should have brought them with.

Awwww man that stinks and very frustrating that she didn't send the gear.

We haven't gotten much snow here in Maryland in a couple of years. But I was in target a few weeks ago and they had snow suits for $6! I picked up every size. I figure if she doesn't wear them I'm not out much. I have also done snow boots this way. I know it doesn't help now, but maybe you can find some cheap gear and just keep it at your house. If he doesn't wear it you will not be out too much.

His Carhart set that we got him last year, will fit him again next year (yeah 3 years out of one suit) and then we'll get him another Carhart set. DH thinks that other snow gear is cheap and crappy and won't buy them. We have his boots for next year, we picked them up last week at Walmart, a pair of thinsulate lace up once.. but they're too big and he falls over on the carpet.. he'd never get anywhere in the snow

Dh is going to say something when she picks him up on Sunday. Nothing confrontational just along the lines "hey, when there's snow on the ground, please send his snow gear, or let me know when I can come pick up the carharts you said you were leaving here, he was pretty disappointed not to be able to play in the snow."

Next year he will have the full set of stuff here... but this year, we're just SOL. *sigh*

Could always wake up dh and take him to the pool right? LOL

Awww...that stinks! Does she live far? Maybe you could swing by her house and pick up the gear?

No, she doesn't live extremely far, about 15 minutes. The roads were pretty gross and DH didn't want to take the car all the way over there.

We took him to the pool for an hour and a half instead. He loved it, but still said he wished we could play in the snow mountains. Maybe we will get lucky and get another 6" this week, since we're taking him next weekend too (since dh will be gone after that).

That's a bummer!! Hopefully you get more snow for the next time he's over! I know that we are supposed to get ANOTHER blizzard tonight. Yikes! And if she forgets it again, I've definitely layered DS up like crazy in thermals and lined jeans or multiple pairs of sweat pants under windpants and put on super warm thick socks under rain boots or even old tennis shoes and sent him outside to play. It's definitely not AS good as a good snow suit, but in a pinch, it gets us by and he still gets some outside time

Aw, poor Reme! I'm glad he had fun at the pool, though, and hope you get some more snow for next time.
