I finally found a green cleaning blend for the dishwasher that gets them good and clean without leaving residue....Half borax and half washing soda mixed together.

I found no residue but it left a weird texture on it. Cant explain it.

Ginny- I got mine at the local farmers market. They sell all sorts of things there.

Maybe I need to work with the mixture a little bit.

Do you think baking soda could be substituted for the washing soda?

Update: I just mixed a batch of baking soda and borax and used vinegar in the jetdry section of my washer. I'm washing my first round of dishes as we speak...I'll update you when it's done!

This could be bad

Just wanted to give an update. The dishes turned out perfectly using the baking soda/borax formula

The vinegar and baking soda didn't fizz all over the kitchen?
Sounds good, I didn't know what I could use in the jet dry thingy. Do you put it in each time, or does it last a while like it jet dry?

The borax/washing soda mix doesn't wokr for me! I don't know what it is....maybe the water here? But even with regular detergent and vinegar my dishes come out with nasty film on them somtimes. And we have a brand new washer! *sigh* I have given up on trying to be green with the washer. Grrr.....LOL
