I made my own by sewing fabric over cloth diapers.

Just don't use like the expensive Indian prefolds, the Gerber's or Garanimals folded over dot he trick for even the heaviest of flows.

So excited for you Wendy!!
I ordered my first pack yesterday afternoon and got an email confirmation this morning with the tracking #, saying they were on there way! WOOHOO Can't wait!! Especially since AF will be here any day! I may have to use disposables until MC gets here, but I will switch as soon as the mail comes! After I get them, I'm going to be making my own also.
And I'm glad to hear from yet another person about how comfortable they are! It really makes me look forward to the switch! And I can't wait to NOT have to run all the way to town - 15 miles from my house - when AF shows up early, or when I don't have as much as I thought I had in the box under the sink (lol), or when AF turns out to be heavier than I expected, or when AF is lighter than I expected and I can't wear the SUPER tampons!!! LOL It's endless, isn't it?!?

I love success stories! I'm so glad you like them and that we can share these things on here without others (on here) thinking we have three heads! My Mom said, "Don't knock it 'til you've tried it!"

You know Niamh, you were the one who inspired me to try cloth diapering.

I remember telling you I was amazed at how you did it all and you were like "It's no more work throwing it in the washer then you taking them to the trash". Those were some inspiring words and I have been hooked since

Aww! Wow that's awesome! I'm so glad I could inspire you!! That feels good.

Yeah, I have always found it so funny when I tell people that we cloth diaper and they say I must have a lot of discipline or that they are amazed at how much work I do.... because, I'm actually pretty lazy, haha! I'll tell you what, "procrastination" really is my middle name, LOL. But even though I'm a pretty lazy person in general, it's always no big deal to do the diaper laundry. Takes me like a minute to load and unload the washer! The washer and dryer do all the hard work!

Mama cloth is one thing I don't think I will ever get into. I have nothing against it - and heartily say but I hate wet things against my skin, or anything that sticks to me. I hate bandaids, I can't stand wearing a watch, etc. Now if I could just figure out how to make a re-usable tampon, I'd be set! so far the only thing I've come across is a pattern you can buy to knit, but they don't say what to stuff it with. I keep thinking I will have to try and come up with something.

^^^ One thing I can say is that it seems to suck the wetness away but to each his own.

I just wish they'd start making organic Big Macs at Mc.Donalds, lol

You can get a menstrual cup. After using a menstrual cup, I'll never EVER go back to tampons! Love my cup!!

I use a cup and cloth pads. The pads I wear around the house and the cup I wear out in public (or when I'm swimming or something).

Just wanted to chime in by saying how WONDERFUL MC has been throughout the PP period...After my first baby, I was sooo chapped and sore from wearing the disposable for so long (very sensitive skin!!)...this time, using cloth has been a MILLION times better! They were soft, kept me dry, and I could change it as often as I wanted, without spending a TON of money, or feeling wasteful!

I also LOVE my Diva Cup!!

As to reusable tampons, they do sell them! they are often made of sea sponges in a sort of "bag"...I'm not explaining it very well, but they are out there!

I was on Etsy looking at Mama Cloth the other day and one page had everything together .... Mama Cloth, Diva Cup, Sponge .... All in a neat little row of pictures. I thought it was cool because I've been wondering what a Diva Cup looked like, Dito a sponge! You should check it out, just to see what's out there, in case you ever change your mind.
As for me .... AF is due any time now and I'm just for the mail to bring my MC! I just ordered it, so I can't complain, but I'm so excited, I can't wait!!

I also recently got a diva cup and love it! I use mama cloth at night and diva with a mama cloth when it's heavy. I probably don't need it but it makes me feel more secure. I'm so happy to be able to go swimming again when AF is here. I used to wear tampons but got toxic shock from a spider bite and almost died and Dr. said no more tampons! (Once you've had toxic shock, you are at a greater risk of contracting it again.)

I'll check those out on Etsy, thanks!!!

Right now, as ridiculous as this sounds, I bought my tampons off Amazon.com!! I cannot find the Tampax's Lite tampons (I rarely need more than the Lite's) in the biodegrable applicators anywhere locally anymore, they've all switched to the plastic Pearl.

ETA - Christina, do you remember that Etsy site? All I can find on Etsy is mama cloth, no cups or sponges. I know I've seen the stuff somewhere . . .

OK Girl I found it!! Sorry for the mess up - all my fault! It wasn't Etsy, it was Abby's Lane! Here's the exact page I was talking about:
