Surprisingly "green" in my house!! I bought the washable filter that goes with it and have been using it to make coffee one cup at a time! I'm no longer using paper filters like I was in the regular coffee pot. it makes the coffee so fast I am using less energy I'm sure. Plus I make one cup at a time so I'm drinking a whole cup instead of making coffee in the regular pot and end up throwing some of it away everyday becasue it's too hard to make such a small amount in a larger coffee maker. LOL!! Plus it's so easy to use I have cut out all other coffee drinks! I was getting into a bad habit of buying rock star coffee drinks and starbucks double shots and stuff like that in cans and drinkign those a couple days a week. I will say the K-cups are a waste of money and make so much trash!! I tried the cups that came with the maker and honestly most of them weren't as good as my regular coffee grounds anyway! So I won't buy anymore of those. I'm in coffee heaven!

Cool! I thought you had to use the special little cups, but that's cool that you don't!

Washable filters are the way to go!

Where did you get the washable filter??? That sounds great! I have always despised those coffee makers because of the cost and waste in the little cups, but it sounds like you have found a way to make it work "green".
