And if you do go camping....do you bring your own washable items like plates, cups, utensils....or do you use plastic/paper throw away kind??

I try to bring as much reusable stuff as I can. My parents always did that. we had a whole set of cheaper utensils, corelle plates and bowls and stuff like that. We had a tent trailer we kept it all in and before the trailer my dad had a big wooden box he stored it all in.

We do go camping...but not the way most people do

We do Civil war reenactments/encampments a couple times a year. We dress in all period correct clothing, and sleep in a canvas tent! All cooking is done over an open fire, and all dishes and food are also period correct.

It is a bit more challenging, but fun!

We camped alot when I was growing up and my family had the box of camping dishes too! We also do civil war reenactments and love the mix of camping and dress-up it provides!!! And it's cheap!

That sounds great! Our 10 year old is really into the Civil War. How neat!

We camped until we hit 5 kids, than gave it up! It's also about the same time we bought our farm, and now with animals we can't leave for more than a day trip, without finding someone to do farm chores.
