It's a new year and a new chance to improve our crunchiness. I have a lot of new things I really want to try or even get back to this year but I feel like since we are moving in three months I am kind of limited. Such as I was wanting to start making my own laundry soap again but I would never use it all before we moved. So right now I am working on focusing on going green with the issue of our health. I am working on changing our diets to a more whole foods and organic based diet. I am also researching different natural ways to improve our health such as supplements, herbalism, diet, chiropractors, etc. It is kind of overwhelming but I am trying to take it one step at a time and not be overwhelmed.

What are y'all planning to do to improve your crunchiness this year?

Go off-grid. I don't think it can get crunchier than that. Self-sustainable living is something we feel strongly about. Grow our own food and raise animals - can't wait!!

I would love to go off-grid, it is one of my life long dreams. Unfortunately Dh doesn't feel the same way. We do plan to have a garden in our next house but that won't be until next Summer and when we finally move back to Texas and build we plan to raise our own meat but that is still at least 4 years away.

I can't wait to move in March and find a house where I can plant a garden. I tried my hardest this past year, but the border of Mexico just wasn't very friendly with all the sun and the huge drought. lol. I also can't wait to be back in the land of farmers markets and such, so I can buy a lot more stuff locally.
We started using cloth napkins and rags for cleaning everything last year. We're not able to do that right now (90% of our stuff is in storage for 3 months), so I can't wait to get back into it!
This month I finally made the complete switch over to mama cloth.
I also really want to make our own laundry detergent, but that's going to have to wait till after we move and DS is out of cloth diapers (about to start PTing) since the recipes I've found aren't good for them.
I also want to buy more used items.

Good luck to going off the grid. Definitely not for our family (DH still has a 10 year military commitment left), but it sounds divine!

Hi I'm new here, Hope you don't mind me jumping in.

My new years goal is to get more organized and to be more Self Sufficient and save money and help do my part in trying to live a greener life style. I got a book that I started reading about "Extraordinary uses for ordinary things" There are allot of neat things it teaches you about using things you might not think to use for just about anything. I feel really good about it all too I can't wait till it pays off in the end.

I got half way through the book so far, so many cool ideas. Gotta stock up on some things now. Baking Soda, Vinegar, Borax, Ammonia are major in helping clean, so many different things you can do with those ingredients. And a little goes a long way too. I want to hit up the dollar store and sock up on some spray bottles now lol

I got 2 more books that are similar from the same company who made that book, through Readers Digest. The other ones are Homemade, and More extraordinary uses for Ordinary things.

Our big thing too I forgot to add about my goal this year is my garden. We didn't have the money to do one last year but I have money set aside from my tax return and it all planed out how big of a garden I want. I also have to animal proof it too since we have allot of wild life around us. I can't wait though.
