also, instead of buying brand new clothes all the time we can shop at thrift stores. not only do we save green but a lot of the time there are brand new clothes there witht he tags still on them. Target is really good at sending off their clothes to goodwill when they are no longer in season. Also, hand me downs are great too. but its important to tell the why of it and not just because. We can also encourage giving their outgrown clothes and toys to thrift stores or organizations that help other kids. my boys love knowing they are helping a younger child.
eta: also, all those mags and paper scraps can be kept for other craft uses too. dont throw those out, kids love them too.
