I can't even remember.

Around the turn of the millennium but exact dates I don't know. A long time.

As a teen. The city began having recycling bins so we had them in the house. Mom and dad didn't really care about them but I did. Every place I lived after I moved out that had recycling I took part in. Now it's a little different. Now most of the recycling I do is using recyclables for stuff around here (generally for gardening but other stuff as well) or for scout crafts

When I got married 6 years ago. We moved across country and they had recycling bins for us there. It was so easy to start!

When they started it in the city I lived in.

Oh, and when I was little we would collect pop cans and briing them back for money. That was in Alberta in the 80s.

Late 80's early 90's. I can't remember exactly when recycling became manditory, but I remember them building the recycling center when I was in 4th grade (1994) cause my bff and I would go around and collect everyone's newspaper stash and take it up ourselves because it made us feel good. That and the team who collected the most recyclables through the school year got a pizza at the end. We collected more than the rest of the class combined. LOL.

They started the full recycling program about 2 years later, so at that point it was fully mandatory and every home was recycling. Cans, bottles, paper, plastic, compost and trash. Now they don't even allow electronics to be thrown out, we have depots you can drop them off at who will see that they are recycled. My grandfather does a lot of the recycling around home, he will bring home truck loads of computers, tear them apart, sort the parts and recycle what he can, and gets to turn the rest (the wires) in for cash. He has a monster pile of hard drive magnets that no one is sure what to do with. LOL. He can't get too close, he has a few metal parts... it makes him fall over.
