Do you make any Christmas gifts yourself instead of buying them? What do you make?

What about cards?

Yes & Yes

I make cards and gifts. I usually do a line of spa treatment products (bath salts, soaps, bath bombs, etc) but have done things like cross-stitched bookmarks, blankets, gift baskets, candles, picture frames, etc. I'm learning to knit so in years to come I'm sure I'll be making lots of knitted items

I find it lots of fun and it's the rare person who doesn't enjoy the homemade item.

We try to. This year most of my family from home will be getting knit hats/mittens. We are building a play kitchen for my daughter (from Santa) and I am going to sew her a bunch of play food from the vast collection of felt I seem to have amassed.

I don't send out a lot of cards, the few I do are usually to Jm'ers and I tend to buy nice cards for the card exchange. I could make my cards, but I'm pretty sure I'd spend more money on them than if I just picked up a box of 20 at the dollar store. LOL.

I have done handmade gifts in the past. Reme is getting a dress up trunk this year for Christmas. While we are buying a lot of what's going in it (dollar store here I come!) I'm sure I'll end up having to make a cape or a batman mask. DH and I will make the trunk itself, and make it look just right.

i buy cards (make them with pics of my kiddos) but I make gifts for teachers and others.

I made stone's teacher an her aide's a frame with their initials made out of crayons last year and they have them up in the hallway beside their door this year, they still rave about them. my youngest son Mason is in their class this year and they keep telling me how they cant wait to see what else I have in store for them lol

I have been known to do readings for people and include with them pertinent crystals for what's coming up in their life. I've also made and given candles, too. I love the look of presents in jars, eg when people fill jars with sweets, bath salts, recipe ingredients etc, and intend to save Michaela's baby food jars - been pinning lots of things on Pinterest for what to do with them!

Lesha, your post reminded me of the Christmas cards my mum used to make for our teachers each years. She would do the picture as a collage and use the bottom of a yogurt pot as part of the picture to make a container for some mini-presents. She would wrap chocolates in gift wrap for the mini-presents. One year she did a Santa and the presents went in the sack. Another year it was a Christmas tree and the presents went in the planter.

Last year I made our own greeting cards. It was super fun. This year? Totally ordering photo birth announcements and that's it!
I do enjoy giving out homemade gifts, but none will happen this year. I actually have tried to cut down on gift giving between me and others more and more each year because I'd rather just have an online video conversation than a mailed gift with my friends.
