I have to appologize in advance. I still don't have all my scrapbooking supplies upstairs, so no step by step pics. But here is a technique I found on the memory makers website.

dressed up monogram instructions

Here they used chipboard and mentioned to use a crop-o-dile to add the eyelets and make a hole for the brad. But really you could cut a large letter out of thick cardstock and dress it up with brads and stick 3-D foam or glue dots behind it and get the same affect as the chipboard. I have used this a couple of times in my pages to dress up a title.
