With this new dog!!!!!!! the first two days it was the most well behaved dog ever. Then as it got comfortable it started barking occasionally which for being such a small dog he realyl doesn't bark all that much. What is getting me is HE KEEPS USING MY SONS ROOM AS HIS BATHROOM!
I think that is the most disgusting thing in the whole world. I can NOT stand dogs that use the house to do thier buisness. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP! GIve me ideas to stop this otherwise fido is GONE!!! I can't help it. I am tolerant with most things but that is a pet peeve of mine. And its a daily basis the dog does this. I've tried changing the times he goes outside. Normally he gotes out at 8, 12, 2, 5,8, and then anytime from 10 pm to 2 am when we all go to bed. The only consistancy of his is that its a hidden spot. He's gone in my sons room, the back bathroom, the corner of the dining room (hidden by chairs) I really can not take much more of this. Please any suggestions!!!!
crate train.
get a crate and anytime you cant watch him+, pop him in there.
also making sure he pees and poops everytime he goes out. and lots of praise (even a treat) when he poops outside. closing off the rooms will also make it so he cant sneak a poop. no free feeding. meal, then out to poop 2-3 times a day.
we were doing the treat everytime he went out but then he quit pooping outside all together! we were thinking of putting a baby gate up because the latches on the bedrooms doors are sucghh that if you push on them they open. I do free feed him so maybe put the bowl down once in the morning and then take it like an hour later?
How old is he? If he's still a puppy he needs to be taken out probably every hour, and 30 minutes after he eats or drinks. DEFINITELY crate train. It is the best thing EVER. Keep all the doors shut whenever possible too, so he can't run into another room and hide. Try doing only positive reinforcement. Don't shove his nose in it, or yell at him when he has an accident, if you're punishing him that's probably why he's hiding to do it. It's way more effective to just clean up the mess and ignore him. When he does go outside have a party, cheer, praise, give him treats, act like he just saved the entire world.
Make sure whatever you're using to clean up the mess says it neutralizes pet odor. Otherwise he can still smell it and will go back.
He definitely needs to go out more often than that. I'm currently crate training my new 5 month old german shepherd puppy that I rescued. I take him out EVERY 30-60 minutes until he goes to the bathroom. We do lots of praise and when he has a accident there is no punishment. We have only had one accident though and it was my fault for not letting him out sooner. At night, he sleeps in his crate from 11ish to 4:30 or 5 and thats when I get up and let him out. So far, no accidents in the crate yet. He eats on a schedule twice a day and like the others said, he goes out about 30 minutes after he eats. Once a dog has a accident in the house, they tend to keep using the same spot because of the smell that typically remains in the carpet. I would suggest either keeping your son's room door closed (or using the baby gate) or covering that spot with a rug or something for a while just until you get the potty training under control. That's what has always worked for my family. Good Luck
im sorry! we had a cat like that.. we had to get rid of him... and i feel ur pAin..its the worse when its your own childs stuff...ew!!!
maybe take him out more???
Hope it helps...
maybe he is having a health issue?

I was very anti crate training with my puppy at first because I thought he'd do better with having more room to run around while I was at work. Boy was I wrong! I kept him in the kitchen behind a baby gate but the one good thing to come of that was that he essentially trained himself to go in the kitchen on tile when he'd have an accident and to date has never had an accident on the carpet. He was in the kitchen so he'd go in the kitchen. My vet told me that if he were in the wild he would have a den and that'd be like his "safe spot" where all he could do was stand up, turn around, and lay down. So I had to get a crate that would only allow him to do those things... if it's too big she said he would still have the accidents because dogs will not lay or stand in their own waste. The smell of their waste is what would draw their predators to them, so they'd never ever go in their dens or near their dens. So the dog, in theory, wouldn't go in his or her crate either. And you never use a crate like a time out. She said to make it a fun and safe place, put peanut butter or cheese on the far back wall so the dog WANTS to go in it.
So definitely crate train and make sure the crate is only big enough for the dog to stand up, make a circle, and lay down comfortably then accidents should be a thing of the past... hope this helps!
no apparently its a territory thing about pooping in jakes room. im at my last straw with him. he's about to be gone. He pooped in there twice today. i just cant handle this on top of everything else right now.

^^agreed!
You're gonna have to figure out a way to keep your childs door shut, or the dog locked up. Wishing you the best of luck! I have a dog that does this and it's the most annoying thing in the whole world.
