If you keep track of what you read, how do you do it? Use a virtual bookshelf? Keep a mental list? Keep a spreadsheet? notebook?

I was just thinking about this! I need a better system. I write lists (usually off of Amazon) of things I want to read- then I notate if any of my local libraries have them. And then I usually "grade" them after I read them, so I know if they are worth re-reading. But at some point those lists get lost or trashed. I've joined shelfari but still am not doing a good job when I read something to add it, let alone going back to put on books I've read in the past.

I think since I want to do the ABC Challenge with my neighbor I'm going to make a spreadsheet (excel) to track that- but in reality I will probably never do a good job of tracking what I read, I just stumble on a book and think Oh, I read this and it was great! or I hear someone else talking about a book and I realize I read it a few years ago.

Oh well... (another good thing about Kindle )

I never kept track of my books until two years ago when I started with the reading challenges. I am way too disorganized to. Then I was "forced" to. I kept track on the site that listed the reading challenges. I also kept track on my blog. And last year, I started with Shelfari. I thought it was such a cute idea to have a virtual shelf.

Prior to this, I always meant to keep track of my books. But I would always forget to write them down and even if I did, I would be too disorganized to continue doing so.

These experiences, while often difficult to bear at the time, are percisely the kinds of experiences that stretch our understanding, build our character and increase our compassion for others."
