How long to you give it? Do you know within the first few pages that you're not interested? Or do you keep on reading to give it a chance?

Unless it's really horrible I have to finish it. It's a disease lol. Seriously, it bothers me to no end to just stop reading a book

I've given up on 2 books. I did go back to the first and finished it. The second time around, I couldn't remember why I wasn't crazy about it in the first place. And the second book, I can't remember what it was. That's how memorable that book was.

Oh, I never finished the third book in the Lord of the Ring trilogy. I reached my limit on renewing the book and never borrowed it again. Does that count?

But I have a tendency to finish books, too.

I have yet to come across a book that I dont find interesting at some point in time...

though I have started a few books only to let them go cuz they weren't keeping my interest, but would pick them back up months later, (The host by stephanie meyer being one) and was quite surprised that I loved it so much. Also the first book I read of Karen Marie Moning's (The Immortal Highlander) I put down after a few chatpers but picked it up after finishing the host because I NEEDED to read lol and I love love loved that book and now love Karen Marie Moning.

I have a few books that I have started but havent finished.... due to lack of keeping my interest, but since other books I started and didnt finish have been so good I will definantly be giving those a chance.

While it may not come at the time we desire, the faithful will know that every tear today will eventually be returned a hundredfold with tears of rejoicing and gratitude..... These experiences, while often difficult to bear at the time, are percisely the kinds of experiences that stretch our understanding, build our character and increase our compassion for others."
