What do you think generally of swearing in books?

Do you approve or no?

Do you think there's ever a stylistic reason to use it?

I don't mind it...I swear a lot in real life, so it sometimes it helps make characters more real to me But if it was all over the place with no real addition to the story or helping develop the image of the character, it would just be annoying.

What do you think generally of swearing in books? as long as it's not kids books

Do you approve or no? don't see why not

Do you think there's ever a stylistic reason to use it? it makes the characters more real to me to be honest. "leave me alone" doesn't get the point across as well as "screw you." sometimes. LOL

It doesn't bother me, necessarily. As long as the characters are well-developed and the story is interesting, I don't mind.

Swearing doesn't bother me in books as long as it's not overdone. I think that the whole point of swearing is shock value, and when every other word is a curse word, it loses its shock value.
