Have any of you seen the Last Unicorn? I love that movie! I wrote a poem about it when I was a teenager and thought I would share with you all.
The Last Unicorn
By: Nicole Rickman
Love is as lost as my soul,
the beating rain upon my heart.
And the dew droppeth, as my tears
from my soul shareth my loss.
Oh, my death speaketh to all
immortals. I, the brave, am not.
Your tools speak nothing to me,
I feel only sorrow, but no regret.
I blame no one, but I feel a
whisper within the wind, calling me
to the sea,
with the others like me. I am
held captive, within a human body,
I feel nothing, and yet everything.
Your love can't fool me, and yet it does.
My tears speak nothing to my
heart, I am lost.
I hear a distant sound from my soul,
but I feel if I listen, I will have
lost, my love, my hope. But it's yearning
me to follow, it's quickening my pace. I feel
myself to change back to my original form,
the one I had forgotten.
The red bull fights for me to lose my life, to
be with the others, held prisoner within the
sea. But I have found my life within that
human body that died when I turned immortal,
and the red bull was sent to the sea, for others
like me, to be set free.
