Hi. I'm Rachel. Right now I am waiting to ttc for a couple more years. This is for several reasons. First, I'd like to be mentally stable and second I'd like to lose some weight. I was to get a lap-band to help me with the weight loss, but in order to be a candidate for the surgery, I have to be out of the mental hospital for at least a year. After that one year is up, I can enter the program, but due to my insurance requirements, it will be at least another 6 months before I can be booked for surgery. After the lap band is in place, I'm supposed to wait another year before becoming pregnant.
Now, onto my mental issues. I have an NOS mood disorder, depression, and ADHD that are being treated. I also have Asperger's syndrome and Non-verbal learning disability which there are no treatment for. I am currently on Abilify, Lamictal, Welbutrin, and Concerta. The Abilify is for the NOS mood disorder and actually helps a little bit with the symptoms of asperger's and NLD. Lamictal also helps stabilize my mood. Welbutrin is an anti-depressant and also helps a little with the ADHD. Concerta is for the ADHD.
I don't think any of my medications are safe for pregnancy. Naturally, I'd have to titrate off all of them, except Concerta which can be stopped cold turkey, before I ttc. I know that pregnancy hormones can sometimes help stabilize moods, but what am I to do while still ttc? And how am I supposed to drive without ADHD meds? I'd really appreciate all of your experiences.
Thank you to pattyandthemoos for the beautiful siggie!
